Post header HP #'s

Has anyone seen the latest sporttruck mag. article on the installation of JBA shorty's on a 01 Lightning. They did a before dyno and got 340HP follow by an after dyno of 361. 21 ponies from just shorty's. I thought someone once said there was not too much HP to get by installing aftermarket exhaust.. 21 sounds pretty good to me..

They claimed to have gotten 15 hp on the '00 L shorty's too, but there is not a '99-'00 owner here with shorty's that will tell you those #'s. Those #'s sell rags, remember that is what they are doing!

Cool

Jeff, bassani headers were reported by one magazine to add more ponies than that. The rags have to keep advertisers happy. Did you see the L that did 13.30,s stock last year in mmff? Me either, except in print. They should be able to get 13.10s out of the 01.lol Ask high roller about the JBA's, i beleive he had them on his 99 and will give you truthful info on them.

Thumbs down

More than half of any Lightning articles i read is far from the truth, those headers produce no more power than the stock manifolds but they are good quality! You will learn more right here on this board from our members and take there advise over a magazine article!

Jeff, the factory headers aren't bad at all. Remember this dilemma we went through on our Mystic Cobras together? I told you Long Tubes and you told me shorties. I installed the LT's and you installed the shorties...and look who made more hp!

Case in point:

That above was w/ just turning the OBD-2 OFF. Remember, I was having problems w/ one of my OBD-2 sensors (which had nothing to do w/ the headers or off-road). I wasn't losing max hp, but my OBD-2 was actually detuning my motors output for some faulty sensor reason before I even installed the headers/off-road.

I made 301 before it was over with. That was BBK Long Tubes, Off Road, K&N, and Chris Johnson (www.jmschip.com) Autologic dyno-tune.

I FULLY believe in LT's for these Modular Motors.

Here was the spikes I was getting:

The smooth run in the same graph was turning just OBD-2 off. Both of these was w/ headers. Turning OBD-2 off does not give one more hp, it only will give you back your lost hp if your OBD-2 is detuning the motor, and mine was from a faulty sensor somewhere (as I said before this happened when I had fully stock exhaust, but the runs above were w/ the LT's and Off-Roads.)

Jeff, might I remind you of something about LT's yet again (lmao):

Okay, that 2nd pic shows all your mods, and mine was not listed but here they are:

BBK Long Tubes, BBK Offroad H-Pipe, Flowmaster mufflers w/ stock cat-back pipes, Piggyback style underdrive pulleys w/ stock alternative pulley, K&N Air Filter.

Oh, and both of us had chips. I had Autologic Software and you had Superchips software, both of us were dynotuned as well.

That's it

Hmmm, WHO said you lose low-end w/ Long Tubes? LoL!

Pure magazine hype. They have to keep the ad boys happy. Sad when that clouds the truth.
