Unhappy Got rid of the L

Yep I'm surprised that I can even write this post between crying and laughing. I traded it for a 99 Triple Black Cobra. Reason for trading good deal on trade and not bad price for Cobra also my dad is a car freak and always wants something new. I miss the L already. Anyway a roll bar is goin on the cobra and lowering springs. Does anyone know where I can get cool aftermarket things for it like an intake? Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Say, wasn't it the 99 Cobra that had all those problems with the driveline and loss of advertised HP?
Man, I went the OTHER way !! Traded in my 98 Cobra on the L and have NEVER second guessed myself. I'm totally satisfied that I made a step up all the way around. Good luck with the new ride.

Noticed you're from Newton. I was born and raised there. Graduated from NHS many years ago. I'll be up there the fourth week of July for a visit. If you're around, maybe we can meet up.

Sorry to hear you got rid of your L, but I know you will enjoy the Cobra. You might want to get a "Mustangs Unlimited" catalog to start your parts search. Summit Racing is another good place to look.

Paintdglas is right, it was the '99 Cobras that were advertised at 320 HP (up from 305 the previous year) but they did not make it. Ford came out with a dealer installed fix for it, after there was a class action suit against them. You might want to make sure your '99 has the fix installed.

This HP problem is why there were no '00 Cobras, Ford was busy fixing the '99s and making sure it wouldn't happen again. I'll let you know if it does. I picked up my '01 Cobra yesterday afternoon, and NO I did not get rid of my '99 L.

Good Luck WhiteLightning99

Same here, traded 98 Cobra for the Lightning. Cobra was funner in the twisties, Lightning's funner in the 1320.

It was the 2000 model year cobras that had the problem meeting the advertised power rating of 320 hp, I know we test drove one. My dad just got a 2001 yellow cobra convertible and it is bad a$$. I tried to talk him into the L but we test drove a 2000 silver one which was having a bad piston slap. Deterred him from that one.

No 2000 Mustang Cobras were made.

"The 1999 Cobra failed to deliver the advertised 320 horsepower forcing Ford to recall them and cancel the 2000 model year production. "

The 99 have power problems:

I'm another one who went the other way. I traded my 95' Cobra for my L. I hope you have as much fun with the Cobra as you did with the Lightning, or you will be back?

Good Luck

We ran against a 99 Cobra that had been "fixed" last week. He was just learning how to launch the car, but ran .3 slower.

Must be a trend, I traded my 98 Cobra for my 2000 Lightning. The only time I second guess myself is when its in the shop to have something fixed/replaced.

Unfortunately thats a bit often, but what can ya do?
