Question about the Torque Converter in these L's??
I was wondering if anybody knows what the bolt spread is for the converter? I was told It's either a 10 or 11 inch spread but, I don't know. Need to know before I order my custom Converter. Any help would be nice. Thanks.

I'm not sure on the pattern but we do have a P.I. torque converter which ive been testing at first i was unsure how i liked it but now that i put a few miles on it i really like it. give us a call or e-mail for more details.....JL

You are having someone build you a custom converter that does not know the bolt pattern? Sounds scary to me.

do you like the results of the Transgo shift kit combined with the R9 Flipchip? The R9 alone in position 2 has pretty firm shift points already and I installed the Transgo on a friends lightning. Just wondering if you had the R9 first or could give me some insight. thanks

Ok here's the deal. We have a motor from a 2001. And we have an '87 Mustang Coupe. I'm ordering a C-4 from Dynamic transmissions. They know that the 4.6 and 5.4 both have a 10 inch pattern, but they also know that the E4OD used behind the diesel trucks have an 11 inch pattern. So they wanted me to check what is on ours, just in case Ford put a different flexplate on these motors. I would check this but I'm at work and the engine isnt here, And I want to order this trans today. So again if anyone knows this then your help will be appreciated. Thanks

There are 4 converters that go in current 4R100s, all the same diameter, there si a Blue dot V-10 6 bolt converter (and Lightnings get these also) the green dot and yellow dot 4 bolt converters (all other 5.4, the Navis get a different converter, I think it may be better balanced, the others don't) and a brown dot 6 bolt (diesels), like I said the diameter is the same on all of them, I'll measure one tonight if you can wait a day.

Sure I can wait, I'm currently talking with Accufab about getting their SFi Flexplate, but its for a 4 bolt converter. Dynamic transmissions said unless I know the exact distance across bolts they cant build it custom. They can make one for the 4 bolt. So now my question is, "is the 8-bolt pattern on the crank the same as on a 4.6 8-bolt"? I know the 4.6's came with a 6-bolt and an 8-bolt mounting flange, but I'm not sure if the 8 is the same. I hope So Or I'm sol here. That would suck bad. Thanks for the help Factory_Tech. I appreciate it!
