Be awhile since it has had any new toys so I decided it was time. New JBL 6x9's yesterday, 01 tails and 3rd brake today. Ordered the billet Lightning logo pedals and ordered the Navigator console in preparation for a seat change. Almost forgot the Cherry Wet Wax and clay bar on it's way in.

Tail light tip. Just did the 01 tail light change. If you remove your tail lights you will notice two large holes behind the lights that pass through to the ground. Every time I wash my truck I always had lots of dirt wash out behind the tails. So I covered the holes with duct tape and no more dirt. I actually had a bunch of gravel and road crap built up behind each light.

Also the 3rd brake light change is kind of a pain in the butt. The wiring plug for it is up under the head liner. Other than that not too bad. Looks great on Silver.

Silver-Bolt,

Be sure to shorten the bottom two screws for your tailights or they will pop through the inside of the light when tightening!!!!

good tip.

another idea (what I did on mine) was to size up the screw against the tail light prior to installation then add washers to space the screw accordingly. There is plenty of room so as not to endanger the tailgate.

also, it's a good idea to pre-thread the tail lights if not already done.

 

I poked two holes through the bottom of mine. Too bad I didn't read the tip first. Oh well, kind of looks like factory dimples.

Cut and chamfered the lower screws. So no problems there. My Cherry Wet Wax just showed up. Ordered it Friday and it all showed up today with a few freebies thrown in. Coats did a great job.
