Gauge Pod Installed - Looking Good
As with everything here in Canada, it seems to take for ever to get all the parts together to make something happen. Anyway, finally got the Lo Tek pod installed with Auto Meter Phantom Gauges. They look great with our dash. Installed the Boost, Voltmeter and A/F Ratio gauges. The Lo Tek pod fit fairly well, with about a 1/4" gap at the top. Put some foam behind the head liner to push it out and fill the gap. Looks pretty darn good if you ask me!

That looks pretty damn good.
I ordered the three gauge pod from autometer, I hope it looks good like that.
whats that bottom gauge, VOLTS?
I got the boost, nitrous, and a digital water tempature gauge for the new intercooler resivoir. I wish I could find a place to put some more gauges so I could se everything thats going on.

Look at the speedo and sig - that's 5000 kilometers (3100 miles). Still pretty decent (mine has 2400 miles in 13 months).

Thanks all for the compliments.
thepawn - look carefully at the attached full sized shot. Us Canadians get to go 220 as well. (in km/h mind you)
Speeding Bob - hate to say I copied the look, but you were definitely an inspiration. The look good don't they? Your picture looks like it could use some foam above the pod as well.
99svtlightning - the pod came from
http://www.gaugepods.com/ Took about 3 weeks to arrive.
The gauges are all Auto Meter Phantom Series 2-1/16":
Voltmeter - 5791
Boost - 5703
A/F Ratio - 5775
If I were to do it again, I wouldn't do the A/F meter as it's pretty much useless, but puts on an interesting light show. I would suggest an oil pressure gauge instead.
The A pillar just pulls off on a 99 L. Start at the top and pull gently. '00 and '01's have two 7mm bolts under rubber plugs on the grab handle. Remove those and pull.
My set up is mostly electrical with one pressure tube for the Boost gauge. The wire bundle that was created had one negative lead for all negative connections on the gauges. One positve lead was created for the the gauge lighting and that was placed under fuse 18 (dash lighting - doing this do not allow dimming, but they are not that bright) A second positive lead was created for the Voltmeter and A/F gauge. This was fed to the number 5 fuse, a switched power source.
A lead was also fed to the black wire on the front-most oxygen sensor on the driver's side, ahead of the catalytic convertors.
The tough connection was finding the right parts for the boost gauge pressure tube. Finally at a fittings supply store I was able to procure a brass fitting with small barbs in and out and a female 1/8" npt "T". Under the dash, above the accelerator pedal is a black plastic tube, approx. 1/8" in size with rubber elbows in it. These pull apart and this is where the brass piece fits in. Very simple with all the right parts.
The wire bundle was easily fed down the door jam area behind the dash.
Pretty difficult to fully explain, but try it and ask questions when stuck. Be glad to help.

What04,
I'm flattered....
and yes, foam is required.
Thanks for the tip on which fuses to tap.
My harness was made so to allow timely removal of everything but the sending units and a small feeder wire through the firewall. Timed exercise (pre-warranty prep), 7 minutes. badda bing, badda bang
what gauges?!?!

Hey What, when you get tired of the light show, send your A/F gauge off to these guys. when it comes back, it actually works

Speedin Bob, all my gauges are wired for easy removal as well. If anybody wanted to question gauges for warranty however, I think I'd try somewhere else.
MRBBQMAN - wow a response without a punch line. I'm shaken. But thanks, yes I will be getting one of their gauges shortly.

what,
just being proactive to eliminate the "those are cool, let's see what else he's done to it...." mode of thinking. Or worse, the "Let's see how much boost thing REALLY delivers" mindset.
