Oil change
I noticed when I went to change the oil, it stated 5W20 on the cap. Ford and Penzoil make this but I wanted to use Mobil 1 but they don't make 5W20 so I used the closest thing, 5W30. The owner's manual only "recommends" 5W20. Anybody see a problem? What are you using?
I changed mine at 1200 miles. I now have 3800 miles. I'm going to change it again at 4200 miles. I used Valvoline 5W-20 that I got from my local NAPA. The rods have not fallen out of the oilpan yet, so it must be working.

eh?
I just changed the oil in the L with Mobil 1 5w20... Remember it clear as day. Dude was going to put Mobil 1 5w30 in, and I saw the 5w20 right beside it so I corrected him... I even spent a extra minute reading the label to make sure it was their full synthetic and it was.

Mobil 1 is not produced in 5w-20 yet. Mobil makes it, though, but it's not synthetic, as it's their "Drive Clean Formula"
Although back in the 70's Mobil 1 did make 5w-20 and later raised it's viscosity to 5w-30.

There never was or is a problem with stepping up a grade in vescosity levels. In hotter climates this is normal. There would not be a problem with a 5-30 synthetic. Its thin enough for the supercharger with the same cold weather 5W flow grade. Its not like your dumping in 40wt!!They're so close in their properties.

You might try Redline or Amsoil synthetics. They both make very high end products. I personally use 5w30, but my L is a 2000 model.

Does anyone see any problems going from 5w30 to 5w20? I have a 2000 that gets that dreaded diesel like sound whenever I do an oil change. LAst for about 300-400 miles just like another member said it would. I have talked to a few mechanics & they think I should try the 5w20 since it's thinner & the tolerances being so tight that it may stop the noise. Still unsure if I should try it for my next oil change.
