Don't buy them. Go with NGK's or Autolite 103's. My Splitfires left with the garbage man last Wednesday.

I know of an owner that had the bottom half of a Split' break off and destroy his motor.

Play it safe as getting an L motor in the P.I. would be a biotch.

I'm with SB. Go with the NGK TR6s from www.internetracerssupply.com . Everyone seems to have more luck with them. Just my $.02.

More ngk plugs have burned off than any other brand plus they don't do squat. This is total misinformation and i have had splitfires for 14k.

Why not use stock plugs? They have taken many into the low 12's for 40 thousand miles.

I cannot comment on NGK's, I don't use them but I don't think it is misinformation that a Splitfire broke and torched a motor. It happened.

Like I said, I had Splits in my truck and was satisfied with them but removed them as I had a low RPM miss that turned out to be part of the chip tune.

Thanks, but I'll play it safe with Autolites.

Speedin bob, i was not questioning your post, only that ngk should be used as a safer alternative.I do not recommend any brand on the boards as most that change plugs also have chips and other mods and these are the trucks that are burning plugs. You do not see stock trucks burning plugs and you also don't see anyone posting that while on the juice they burned a few ngk plugs. They only say there plugs melted. This is what i was reffering to,fact is no plug is exempt from this when your modded.

Speedin Bob,

Who's chip are you running to give you the miss you talked about?

Who broke their motor? I don't remember it being post here. I remember Doug breaking 3 splits but it didn't take out his motor.

I run the splits and could feel a real change in throttle response as soon as I installed them. I've randomly checked the plugs for irregular burn and have found nothing negitive. My 02.

Chuck,

I'm currently running JDM's "summer program" From what I gather, tested, and confirmed (with and without Splits), the "miss" occurs when cruising steady between 1300 and 1900 RPM's. I hope this can be addressed with a reburn. Otherwise, time for something else as it is annoying and unacceptable for my driving style.

As far as the individual torching their motor and no flame intended, I'll let them decide to post the details if they feel it appropriate. It is there perrogative and not my place to do so.

Bob

speedin bob, I just sent my chip back to the tuner cause of a miss I was having. I pulled the chip out and it was gone. Put the chip back in and it was back. It was also at a low to mid RPM. It was not the JDM chip though.

Cool

Here is my take on this,i have had the NGK TR6 plugs in 2 different times on my 99 L and both times i had detonation with them after install and had none with the stock platinums!I know alot of people use them but i feel they are very overrated and no better throttle response!I also installed the splitfires and right away noticed better throttle response but i also had 2 break on me that i believe now was because of lean conditions of my chip at the time i had the splits in.I feel the ngk's might hold up longer than the splits under stress, but if you run safe with no detonation i would go with the splits anyday! On my 01 i am leaving the stockers in because i have never had a problem with them on my 99 and now 01!

Jeff,
I see where you sent your chip back to Danny, was that your miss the other night you were having? Is he going to give you a reburn?Did you get your plugs gapped to the right size yet!Martin Dragway is delayed this weekend for opening night due to the rain we had and will reopen next wednesday night the 13th!

I'd love to try the Splits myself, but I'm hesitant in trying much of anything the way my engine has been sounding lately.
