Post Slight miss question

I have developed a slight miss at part throttle since my last trip to the track. I feel I have either fouled a plug or I have gotten a coil pack wet. Is there a way to determine if a coil pack is bad or not? I took off the #1, 2, 5, and 6 plugs and coil packs and everything looked "ok". I still have the miss, though. Stock plugs, and the coil packs are stock , except for the #1 and 5 coil packs were replaced by the dealer when they replaced my second tranny. Any thoughts?

Check the #4 coil pack(passenger side rear). It has a reputation for shorting(note the heater hose clamp directly above).

Wink

Thanks for the info, but how do I tell if the coil pack is really bad?

Hmmm...look for the green antifreeze on it, unhook the wire that tells it to fire when you have the miss, if no change then it's that, or take it to dealer and have them hook up to it and check it.

Thanks 4D. I was trying to get around taking it to the dealer since they give me such a hard time about the aftermarket parts.

Sounds like the exact same thing that happened to my L. Went to the track one night and ran about 12 passes, and most with severe knocking. Then on the way home developed same problem as you described. Pulled all the coil packs, inspected and ohmed them all out, everything checked out fine. Removed and visually inspected all the stock platinum plugs and to my dissapointment they all looked great. Changed the stock plugs to the NGK TR6's and the problem was immediately resolved.

Cool

Ditto.....PeterB and I were both experiencing missing at the same time. Took us both a long time to figure it out, but both ended up being the spark plugs. Mine, I believe, were being fouled by the intercooler leak. Had the i/c replaced, did the plug change (tr6s), and miss was gone.
