at 63mph?

Did they make the pull in 2nd gear or something?

It's supposed to be done in 3rd.

I'm not very experienced with dyno pulls so I let them just do their thing.
But I know that it wasn't done in third, he had it in drive with the OD off.

I've got the dyno slips here but have to wait until Monday to post them as I don't have a scanner at home.

Question

Wes, why should it be done in 3rd (i.e. a 1:1 gear)... the dynojet machines compensate for any gearing...

HIGHROLLER, the shifts are not too bad.
A little harsh compared to stock, but it's liveable, and the power seems great now. I'm finding myself sidways a lot now where I never did stock.

Cool

Mr. Snake,

All you got is a chip and filter? And you pulled 390 rwhp? No pulley? I want your truck! What were the torque numbers? I'm quite interested. These numbers seem awfully strong.

Every Dynojet I've ever heard of does the pulls in the highest driven gear.

This is better for tuning, first off, as there is more load on the motor (to simulate real driving/racing conditions). Obviously, that isn't a big deal if you're just making one or two pulls. However, since it takes more time to do the pull, it should also allow more sampling of the data...more accurate and more of it.

With an auto trans, you would definitely turn the OD off, and you might have to start the pull over 3000rpm or else the thing would downshift into the next lowest gear. Downshifts are a big no-no, as they cause spikes in the curve which make power look more impressive than it really is.

Hi Wes
Seattlesnake has 2 threads going, and I posted on the other one that I am pretty sure that the dyno used was not a dynojet.
It is a mustang dyno (eddy current) and read a little different than the dynojet. I thought the mustang dyno would give lower numbers than the dynojet but looks like I was wrong.
The reason I thought that, is because I know somebody who dynoed a Shelby big block mustang there a while back and considering how the engine was built, I thought the power was a bit low.

Cool

Wes is correct. You ALWAYS make your dyno pulls in the gear that has a 1:1 ratio. You will get "fudged" numbers otherwise. Also, are these corrected numbers? Do you have any track times to go along with the #'s? Your MPH will be the true indicator of what kind of power you're making. IMO, 392 RWHP for your mods is pretty high.

Errr, aaaahh,...that would be third. Were they corrected(SAE) or actual? Should say on the scan.

I meant second, not third.

I'll post the dyno numbers Monday.

The pulls were done at Blood Enterprises in
Auburn Wa.
THeir # is 253-939-4121

The results are legit, and anyone who has questions can give them a call.
I'm sure everyone there will remeber today and my trucks numbers, as I as well as everyone else was very impressed.

I will soon be doing a pull at Carb Connection in Kirkland to compare dyno's.
They do have a dynojet.

Question

Do you have any stock HP numbers or numbers without the chip. Just curious. I also have a JL D. chip but haven't had it dyno'd with it. All stock I had 353 RWHP with 370 miles on it.

Unfortunately, I did not dyno the truck without the chip.

Never meant to imply they weren't legit. There's a correction factor for temp, barometer, and humidity. The numbers in my sig are SAE or corrected. My actual numbers were 388RWHP and 460RWTQ. Was curious if yours were the corrected(SAE) or actual.
