How many of you guys just bolt your aftermarket bolt-ons.... well on?

I have a new 90mm MAF and a JL ram-air system that would just bolt on, but didn't match to well. I had measured it right in between a 80mm MAF and 90mm MAF so I had it milled out to fit and flow better.

I'm I a weardo to do this or is it just assumed that this is a speed trick that everyone does?
