Waxing/Protecting Questions...
I just got my 2001 from a trade of the 2000. I want to get a Deep Glassy Wet looking shine. I also want it to protect the paint well so I don't have to worry about the tiny Rock Chips etc. I have checked the FAQ's and didn't really find the exact answer. I know Zaino is good but does it protect very well.
Anyone got any tips in applying the Zaino. Are there other applications that are just as good. I know some of you Zaino users have converted to cherry wet wax but would your shine be as good if you didn't use the Zaino as a base?? I need the best starter kit. Also, are there any GP's on the Zaino and can you use paypal to purchase it?
Second question:
Once I get it waxed really good. I wanted to cover it. Any good low scratch car covers out there fitted for the L. Unfortunalty I am garageless unless someone wants to lend me 7k
Finale question hehe, I know yada yada yada... My tips are crooked. The Front one sits up too high. Can I just loose something to align it back up even, and whats a good TIP Cleaner while they are new and shiny
OK Done.
Thanks in advance

1. IMHO, 3M products are consistantly of higher quality than Zaino, Wax shop, etc. I use their hand glaze, then liquid polish and finish with their "Show Car Shine" liquid carnuba wax, and continue with the only the wax for maintenance purposes. Holds up great (sun, snow, salt, etc) wet like deep shine, goes on & off easy.
2. To protect against rocks, check out 3M's site, they have a clear vinyl, non-yellowing laminate, designed specifically for autos, to cover painted areas which are exposed to rocks, etc. It must be installed by an aproved 3M center, but I've seen it & it looks great.
3. For car covers, check out California Car Cover Company (web site). I have used their covers for years, many different applications, materials, etc, staff very helpfull, quality and fit is excellent.

For chip protection, you may want to check out http://www.xpel.com/gallery.html .
As far as polishing/waxing, I use Zaino and am happy but cannot say that I've tried any of the other popular brands.
For a cover, I would agree that California Car Covers have a good product that should perform well.

I'm using a combo of the 3-m imperial hand glaze; Pinnacle Souverain (sp.) ~70.00 a jar; and finish it off with zaino. I also use a porter-cable polisher with foam application pads to apply the stuff. I take it off with a cottom towel then do a final buff with microfiber bonnets. My black 01 lucks like a show car.
My California Car Cover is a perfect fit and would highly recommend it. Just get the right material for your application. I just use mine for dust. Make sure the truck is clean before covering. I hit mine with a california duster if there is just a little dust on it.
Black is a bitch but it really looks good when taken care of.

One of my friends, once suggest this one type of Marine Wax to use on cars. Forgot what brand, but he said you could pick it up any marine store. Told me, be carefull putting in on, but once you get a good coat done it will last longer and better then any auto wax out there.
Any try anything like that? Or now any truth to it?
