OMG! Motorweek does 2001 L and Subaru Impreza WRX!
I just finished watching the Motorweek show at 6:30 CST on Speedvision, it was a great show! And they even picked the fastest color (i.e. Silver)! 
My 3 year old daughter kept asking if that was my truck and who was driving it, lol! Damn, I didn't know I looked so cool driving that beast around! 
They reviewed and showed the Lightning for about 6 minutes and they loved it. The L clipped off 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and the quarter-mile in 13.9 seconds. Not too shabby, but I was blown away by the end of the episode...
...they did a 5 minute segment on the Subaru Impreza WRX!!! Jesu Frickin' Christo!! That little bone stock 4-door 4-cyl 227 hp AWD turbo freak clicked off 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and the quarter-mile in 14.3 seconds!!!!! The 2001 Lightning did 5.4 0-60 and 13.9 seconds in comparison! OMG, hahaha, that car is nearly as fast as our Ls, and I bet it will smoke many LT1s and lotsa Stang GTs!!! That thing is smoking, and that's just the baby version! The STi version is "conservatively" rated at 276 hp (just like the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII). You don't believe they are fast? Check out how this supposedly stock Evo fares against a Supra TT...

I'm telling you guys, if/when these things get here to the states we are gonna have our work cut out for us (as will the LS1s, Cobras, etc.)!

For those of you who missed this episode, my Speedvision channel shows Motorweek airing again at 10:30 p.m. Central tonight. I am betting it is the same episode (the "info" button of course tells me nothing). I plan on taping the segment if it comes on again at 10:30.

That little subaru look pretty sharp in that 4 wheel drift thru the turns. But I'll keep the Lightning just the same!

Well my Japanese svcks to high hell and back, but for the 2 years that I laved in Japan I saw tons of Evo 4 - 6. Stock they where about on par with a chipped Lightning. I saw about 30 modded Evo's that I doubt any fully loaded Supra can touch, but of course my language barrier keep me from asking too many questions.
As far as the Subaru's, well the Japanese really didn't think too much of them nor the Supra.
The hot cars over there are the NSX, Skyline, Evo's, and RX7s. Funny you would think that I would include Supras, and Fairladies(300zx), but for some reason their not worthy.
Another strange thing is ALL used cars even 1 year old are 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a new one. This is why you'll see so many new cars that are modified.
When these things finally come over here and get modded, I think alot of young-ums are going to die. A friend of mine had a kitted NSX that wasn't even competition for a 600HP Corvette that I also rode in, night and day difference. He told me that he's never raced another car with his NSX, only motorcycles!
Well to wrap this one up, I guess our Lightnings in a way are loosing compensation, because after 1 race with an Evo we'll be looking for Volvos and those old things called LS1’s to race. I wouldn’t be surprised if the competition continues this way all trucks even standard issue one will have to be as fast as a current L just to pull into traffic.

Agreed Gator, my Lightning ain't goin' nowhere! It's a keeper no matter what (now that I have a truck, I'll never do without one again). However, the idea of getting a nice used Impreza or Evo to add to the stable in a couple of years...hrmmmm.
Dark_Horse, wow, sounds like the Japanese modded scene is pretty nasty. You know what this means guys? We may not be able to make fun of rice much longer. Making Civics and Preludes and such go fast with stickers is one thing...however, Evos and Imprezas and Skylines are another.
Nostromo, I thought that sputtering you heard was actually from the Evo banging off of its rev limiter at the end of first gear and not the Supra? Hmm, maybe it was the Supra, hard to tell. I thought maybe the Evo driver was too busy laughing while looking in the rear view mirror and not watching the tach, hahaha. I just can't believe that friggin' Evo left so fast! Given that kind of performance, "I can't lie to you about your chances, but...you have my sympathies."
