Cool Did I create a monster?

Or two? Here is a (very bad) picture (grabbed from a video, taken under terrible lighting) of my son in his 2000 Ranger racing David Yee in his 2000 Lightning at Hawaii Raceway Park last Friday night.

I went to visit my kid for a few days, and I wanted to see David's bad truck in the metal, so we arranged to meet at HRP. David had been there before, but never run his truck. My kid had never been there, had never run his truck, and had little interest in doing so. I practically twisted both their arms to get them to run, so they finally lined up against each other in the grudge lanes. I told David to take it easy on the first run, but he got excited and floored it, and Robin put a hole shot on him while his tires went up in smoke. I was taking the video, but I practically fell on the ground when the Ranger jumped ahead of the Lightning. That didn't last long, of course. They ran a few more times, and with practice David got better and better, so it was no contest, but Robin had more fun than he ever imagined he would, and promises he'll be back there next Friday. I'm afraid if he doesn't get some mods on that truck he's not going to win many races. The best part of the evening was when some guy with an R/T called David out. I guess he had seen one of the early runs, but David was getting it dialed in by then, and just smoked him with a 14.002 @ 101 something. The R/T ran about 15.7 @ 89, or something. He didn't throw down any more challenges after that. I know the time doesn't sound that great, but David had never run before, the air was hot and humid, and the traction was horrible. Even the Ranger was spinning off the line. It started to sprinkle so we left, but David stayed, and he called me later to tell me he ran a 13.9, and they kicked him off the track because he didn't have a helmet. I don't think he minded. I think he's going to get a helmet and go back. All in all it was a very fun evening.

George, I had a blast meeting you and Robin! I think Robin and I are hooked on Drag Racing. He already called me to join him Friday night. I have to go to a Gradulation party on Friday night. Maybe next week I will join Robin for some drag racing. I think your son really wants you to ship him your Silver Lightning. He needs a real drag racing machine. The Ranger was the truck to get him started and now I think he needs the fathers drag racing truck. Well any time you come to visit give me a call. I know exactly what we will doing on Friday and Saturday nights. Any way if you have any more pictures I would really like to see them you can either post them or send them to me. It was the coolest meeting you! I heard you hiked up to Diamond Head wow you must be in top shape. Way to Go!!!

Thumbs up

David, I didn't take any pictures; it was too dark by the time you guys got to racing. The lighting at that track is really crappy, too. Robin got some videos, though, and he is making up a tape to send you. Fer sure we'll hook up next time I come over there, but that's only once a year. I told Robin I'd let him race my truck next time he visits me, but it has to be when theres a meet at Famoso.

George, No problem with the pictures. I bet Robin will really look forward to visiting you now that he'll get to drive your Lightning. You should come and visit more offen! I sure am lucky I live in Hawaii and can make a lot of runs compared what you told me what happens in La. so many racers at the Drag Strip.

Aloha, DJY

Question

Not sure, guys. I have a motel reservation, and I was planning on it, but my truck is not shifting properly, and I don't know whether I can make it work right before then or not. Thinking about ordering a Diablo chip and see if that does the trick.
