Cool I went 1/4 Racing 1st time!!!

I had a really exciting experience Friday night! Alphadoggy flew in for vacation to Hawaii to see his son Robyn who lives in Hawaii on Thursday. Friday night I met the both of them at the Hawaii Raceway Park. We all took a fast class to introduce us to the track and the rules of 1/4 mile racing. I really had a hard time my L. I had a lot of wheel spin. I made 7 runs I improved in every run. Reaction time, wheel spinning. Racing is so much fun when it is legal and in a safe enviroment. Alphadoggy is the coolest he gave me so many important tips on racing. He even got his son Robyn a surfer too, into racing his stock Ford Ranger which he made a 1/2 dozen runs down the 1/4 mile. Alphadoggy's son and I were first timers and I think we are both hooked on racing. Alphadoggy even made a run in his son Ranger. Well, I now have to wear a Helmet the next time I go racing at Hawaii Raceway Park I was told you have to wear a helmet if you vehicle goes in the 13 second or below time. It was a very very hot Hawaiian night my last run I did my best a 13.97 run. I was so happy to get in the 13 second class. I was even called out by a Dodge 5.9 RT, I spanked the Dodge baddly I ran a 14.02 to the 5.9 RT 15.53 Alphadoggy was so stoked for me winng that race! Well, I really had a fun time racing and know I will get better with practice. Alphadoggy it was a pleasure meeting you and your son Robyn!

Aloha, DJY

I went to the track once, I didn't think I was really going to get into it, boy was I wrong. I have been 4 times allready even drove down to NJ a few weeks ago for a tune and then some racing. Just wait till you learn how to launch better, and then spank a vette.

Welcome to the Club.

Hey Don if you ever hit jersey again, I'm guessing you went to e-town, let us all now. I'm sure there are other of us in NJ who would meet you up at E-town for some nice showing off and racing.

DJY - You probably have the most beautiful lightning of us all.
Question: What's gas like out in Hawaii? Cost-of-living in out there is astronomical, wondering what it's like to fill up the L.

CBQ43, Thank you for the compliment! Any way right now at the 76 Gas station near my house super unleaded is $2.11 a gallon. The owner of the Gas station said next month the Super unleaded will go up to $3.00 a gallon. Right now I usually pay around $46.oo for a semi fill upand the full tank maybe only last 3 days of hard driving. Yes the cost of living really is expensive to live in Hawaii but it is the price you pay to live in Paradise. It never snows here and the weather is always beautiful and there is no smog in the air. Car and truck parts I always have to Fed Ex or UPS to me and I pay $$$ for air freighting parts to me. Like for instance $50.00 each for new 295-45-18 F-1 to be delivered to my front door. How that??? DJY

Agree with CBQB3, I think you have the prettiest L. that I have seen. Easy to see why you won the trophy at the car show. I don't know if Robin will even ride in mine any more, now that he has seen yours.
Oh, and we filled the Ranger on the way to the airport. They were having some kind of promo at a new gas station in Haleiwa; $1.83 a gal. for all grades. There was a line at the pump, but not a long one. I don't think that price will last. Gas doesn't seem any more expensive there than it is here, though.

George, Every weekend the Gas Express gas stations have 1 gas station that sells gas all grades for $1.83 a gallon. They always have there gas station sales on the opposite side of the island from where I live. I hope you had a good vacation with Robin! I really think Robin and I will be seeing alot of each other at the Race Way park.

Take Care, DJY

HEy DJY, with that lowering kit, what is the lowest point on the underside of your truck now?

How many inches from the lowest point to the pavement?

Nostromo, I have the Bell Tech 3/4 kit with Western Chassis 2 inch A-arms and Western Chassis C-section Plates with Doetsch Tech rear shocks and Edel Brock front shocks.

My front bumper measures
4 1/2 inches front the ground witch is the lowest point.

Front fender center opening measures 28 1/4 inches from the ground.

Rear fender opening measures 29 inches from the ground.

Tow Hitch measures 5 3/4 from the ground.

Hope this is some help, DJY

Somewhat i guess.....i bought a heavy duty transmission pan from mag hytec....i didnt install it yet but with a one inch drop in the front and two incher in the rear, i will only have about 5 to 6 inch clearance from the pan to pavement.

I just wanted to be sure that it is enough...i dont mind a few scrapes here and there, but a full hit by something will be disastrous.
