Ask a lot and yee shall receive a lot, LoL!

The Lightning is about dead on par w/ the two provided they are both properly driven and the '99 Cobra has the "correct" FIX.

0-60 and the 1/4 is about dead par.

All in all I'll say the L has proved to be the overall quicker vehicle, but of course the Cobra owners will cry foul.

Yeah, I was thinking the L was quicker with the same driver and the Fix In. A guy I know argued that how is a 4700lb truck faster with only 60 more Hp, I say its cause the L has about 80lbs more tq.

Remember, these L's are underrated and the Cobra's have always been overrated (pretty much).

I'd say it would be a good match if the Cobra was stock. Check out this link for some stats:

http://popularmechanics.com/popmech/...907AUCTBP.html

I street raced a 99 Cobra Convertible when I had about 600 miles on my 01 bolt. He had a buddy in the car. I have no idea if his car was stock. I forgot to ask. My truck was stock.

I smoked my tires on a 1000 RPM brake torque launch. Duh, stupid. He had a perfect launch, barely a tire chirp. I think I heard him chirp his tires twice powershifting. At about 100 mph, he had about a 1/4 car length on me. We were coming upon traffic so I had to let off the gas. At the next stop light, the driver's buddy shouted, "that is one fast truck".

Frankly, I think Cobras are a pretty even match for our L's.

Cool

I raced a 99 cobra with my 99 L last year at all Ford day at Bandimere in Denver, and won. Just BARLEY-less than .1, I was stock and I think she was too. It will depend on the driver, either could win on any given day from what I've seen.

That depends on the driver and the Cobra.
How fast are you guys running?
Bob Cosby has a few mods on his 99 Cobra but he still runs factory stock. In fact he holds the record. He may have improved recently but last I checked he ran Black Cloud and set the Factory Stock National Record with the quickest pass in Factory Stock history - 12.44 @ 109.14 mph.

Yes some may cry foul, then again they may be great drivers.

I watched two identical Cobra's run at the track on the same day. The one driven buy a guy could not break into the 14's, The one driven by a gal ran 13.5-13.6 all day long. Both claimed stock no mods. Good driver, bad driver.

On the street you will kill most 99-01 Cobra's. Mainly because of the driver's and the fact that the Cobra will have a lot of wheel spin at the launch. I feel as well that the Cobra's are over rated and the L's are under rated! Just purchase a chip and filter and then you will have no worries that is as long as they aren't running a charger!

I have both a 98 cobra and an 01 L.I haven't taken the L out to the track yet, but my cobra when it was stack with 1100 miles on it went a 13.37 at 105 mph.I have also turned a 14 sec quarter with it the same day!I've been hot-rodding for over 25 years and I have to say the cobra is one of the more difficult cars to launch on street or dot.You have to get lucky, really . She either wants to light em up or bog with the street tires. And the difference,as you can see, is night and day.I think stock to stock ,a lightning has a better chance to win, though a cobra properly launched will take a Lightning. Atleast a 98, which is the strongest year, BTW.( most agressive ECU, with no axle hop like the new IRS cobras)
