sct pre-programed tune on stock 2000 L
i'm goin to xxx motor sports on friday. i'm gonna do a run how i am now...k&n drop in and ngk tr5's. after that i'm goin to put in a sct tune (the one that comes pre-programed in it) and do the last 2 runs. i have a couple questions....
1. i was going to get the sct cal3 they have the cal3 and the cal2. is the cal 3 better? i assume so b/c it is newer version...but we all know what happends when you assume things...
2. what kind of gains do ya'll think i'll get out it? i was hopin maybe 20-25hp. are my expectations too high?

Whether the X3 is better than the XCal2 is a matter of opinion. I have the XCal2 and like it. But others have had both and like the X3 better. As far as I can tell the only benefit the X3 has over the XCal2 is a larger screen which makes on-device datalogging easier to see.
Your power estimates aren't too far off. All the canned tune in your device is probably going to do is lean out the A/F just a hair and add a few degrees of spark. If you intend to modify your truck in the future, it would be a good idea to get a Wideband A/F Meter and do some datalogging. Then you can have a tuner dial in your truck to keep it safe and efficient.
