Please Help: C5 Match Race!!
Hurry up and get a chip and pully. Then make an appointment for your stereo install.
Just practice your launches so you don't spin off the line and don't race him any father than you have to. Deffinatly not further than a 1/4 mile, try to make it an 1/8 mile race.

With just a chip and filter kit, and a decent launch = you by 3-4 car lenghts in the 1/4 mile. Since his car is automatic then he has 2.73 gears which means he is a slug out of the hole!
Give Jim at JDM a call he will take care of you! (732) 780-0770

Chip and Pulley. Not so sure about the Granatelli MAF. May be better off with the stock MAF.

As has already been posted, try to limit the race to 1/8 mile. Even with a chip, you may not win in the 1/4. I've seen stock C5s (non-Z06) at the track run anywhere from high 12s (chip/filtered Lightning territory) to low 14s (stock Lightning territory). If he is an average driver, he's probably looking at 13.2-13.3, so you will definately need a chip to have a decent shot at winning a 1/4 mile race. Just so you know what your chances are, my stock 2000 L ran a 14.0@99. With a Superchips R9 chip and a JL ram air/filter I ran a 13.1@106. With a JDM aluminum driveshaft, JDM chip reburn, JDM 90mm MAF, and a JDM single blade throttle body I ran a 13.6@101. Pick you mods carefully.
1/8 mile and a chip= free stereo

Dont forget to get a camera!
Still waiting in Alaska to lose to a C5, before 80 mph. The last 3 that I had a chance to line up against, did the right turn last ditch effort to save face.
There is always tonight...
Did I mention, I have some new footage to put up? Its against my buddy with the 00 Silver SS, 4.10 gears, headers, and lid. I'll admit he did beat me, but not like he should have...

One month from tonite I'm match racing my friends vette. It's a 2000 convertible automatic...and It's stock. I've got a 2000 L w/ only a GMS MAF and an open element k@N. I've got $525.00 for mods, what should I do? I know for a fact he won't mod the vette at all. This will be on a desserted highway, and we're racing for the cost of my truck's new sound system (he owns a car audio store, and if I win he does the system for free). Do I have a chance???
