Question Rear Window Leak!!!

My 99L seems to have developed a leak at the top of the rear window, just behind the drivers seat. Has anyone else had this problem? I poked around a bit on the outside and it appears that the seal behind the plastic window frame is totally loose and not sealing. How do you remove the plastic frame? It looks like it's bolted from inside the cab? I hate to let Gomer at the dealer shoot a bunch of sealer behind it as a fix!

My rear window just started leaking on the right side. Now it leaks on both sides and the slider. The truck is an early 99 that sits outside about one night and three days per month. The rest of the time it is garaged.

I have an appointment to get it fixed under warranty. Thanks 01Bolt for the info that will help me keep the dealer honest. I bet there's allot of Lightnings that have the same problem. We just don't find out very quickly since most of the time we are California dusting rather than wet washing.

Thanks 01Bolt the seal is exactly as you described. Looks like a trip to the dealer after all. I'll keep close watch on Gomer!

Wild Will - same story here is So. Florida, hasn't rained for months and in the last few days with the wet weather the leak started flowing. Those who keep their rides in the garage may never notice it.

Watch for a slow drip just behind the drivers seat at the edge of the interior frame on top.
