well im not sure how to say it, but im having a detonation problem, when im out n about on the eway cruising about 80 and i just give it a little gas Ping, now if im at about 100 and whack it forget about it total detonation.

Now could it be

1) leaky intercooler leaking bad under hi boost, lowering octane.

2) temp of intercooler to hot cause its leaking.

3) tuning issue, it has a jl chip and a air intake.


Anyone have any ideas?

 

Pinging is almost always a result of the chip. Pull it out, drain the system (unhook battery, run lights), go for a long drive, see if it still pings.

If it does, let JL know, he'll fix the AF mixture in the chip for you.

It's probably the chip. A leaking intercooler would probably have an opposite effect. It should cool the intake mixture.

I had my chip custom tuned by Danny Swanson while the intercooler was leaking. There was no sign of detonation during the dyno session, or since.

Dont be alarmed,i have the JL Diablo chip and I have the same problem.I know its detonation cause my motor is only 12 hours old!! He will fix it for ya
