Hey Jeff
"Also can you tell me some more about JDM's tuning on your 01?"

What I can tell you is that when I first bought Jim's chip I was a little dissapointed, so he offered to data logg my truck for me. The chip he burned then is awsome for daily driving and gave me a 13.24 at the track. He adjusted the shift points, and the highway cruise settings, and a few other things that are beyond me.

He has since had anouther 2001 in his shop to work on, so he now has a 3rd generation chip for the 2001's

I just got his 3rd generation chip(now a flip chip) in mine now, which according to Jim is allmost identical, but with a few modifications at higher rpm's in 3rd gear. I really haven't had a chance to see what this latest generation will do at the track, due to rain. So only time will tell, dam I want to try the new race program.

One thing I can tell you Jim has been great to me, I know a few people are a little bummed with him because of the delay with his pullies. But he knows his chips, and reburns them for free if he comes out with a newer program, you just pay shipping. That to me is a great deal.

Hope that helps

Yeah, especially since an eprom costs less than $2 bucks. Amazing that we pay so much for these chips and the profit markup on them. Everyone has a right to make profit, but it's their conscience it plays on not ours for how much they are getting, but it's our conscience that gets played for what we've paid.

I'd tell of a "friend" of mine that burns Autologic chips... nah, nevermind.

Jeff, screw this boost actuator mod, good buddy. Don't risk it for a few hp and some snappier boost around town. Your truck is fast enough w/out this risk it mod.

Couldn't you just unplug the vacuum hose when you go to the track? From what I understand, this will give you full boost all the time. Has anyone tried making any passes with and without the vacuum hose?

Well it may be true that the eprom blank cost 2 bucks, I don't know? Don't forget all the other diagnostic tools the chip tuners nead to figure out what the Ford computer is doing in the first place. The equipment he used to data logg my truck cost about $ 20,000.00

Then you have to factor in time to figure it all out. Plus rent on his shop, cost of a lift, cost of a dyno, electricity, phone lines, payrol, ect I could go on and on.

I know Jim had a 2001 in his shop before he had mine in. He then spent 8 hours on my truck, and still didn't have the 2001 program totally figured out. The following week he had a 3rd 2001 in his shop working on the 2001 program.

Also concider a Cobra throttle body cost $450 and gives you allmost no power increase, Muffler $150 same thing. So a chip at $275 that gives you 40-70Hp sounds like a bargan to me.

Man the picture that I posted caused a lot of discussion, I was just trying to give you all anouther option to the actuator question.

Hey BfB can your "friend" help me out with my 01 L? Does your slap happy 99 have one? Talk to me...
I'll keep the boost bypass actuator plugged in and let a pulley or chip handle any HP deficiency.

Bfb, it doesn't matter that my truck is "fast enough". What does matter is that I went from 8.5 to 9.5 on my boost guage when doing the adjustment. Boost came on quicker with less of a stab at the throttle. It's just optimizing the truck's performance. Oh and no risk.
