Post Question re: MTX Thunderform sub box

Does the MTX Thunderform box make the read deck speakers obsolete? Pics would be hugely helpful...

Thanks.

I just got in my MTX THunderforms box yesterday. Paid $339 for it..

I placed in the truck (didn't wire it yet). It leaves plenty of room on the sides for the back speakers to still be useful...

Looks nice.. The plastic looks kinda cheap, I'm considering having a nice vinyl coving put on it..

Not sure if this place is legit, but www.nexxon.com has 'em for $299. From what I read on their site, I think I trust them.
Hope this helps....

Just put JL Audio W-3's in mine today...
OH MY GOD!!!! They kick MTX 10" subs A$$!!!

But to answer your question, there still is alot of additional sound from the rears. I suggest putting a quality 4-some in place of the factory speakers, though...

Thanks, guys,

I put Pioneers TS-A6865's in all four corners. Sounds alot better.

One of my friends said that putting an amp between the stock head unit and the new upgraded speakers would be useless because the head would still pull power out. True?

Madhouse,

I put an amp between the factory amp and the speakers, and it made a huge difference. Adding an amp will definitely help.

Cool, thanks Kelly. I'm gonna go ahead and put one in. Where'd you locate it?

Madhouse:

Your only options are the back wall or remove the jack under the front/pass. side. I fit a big 5-channel Clarion under there with room to spare.

www.mmxpress.com for the thunderforms.. They aren't listed there, it was a special order - but only took 2 weeks.

I also have a RF Power 800.4 amp - 2 channels bridged on the subs.

Installed it all this weekend along with new door speakers - sounds really good. Hits quick and hard. I don't listen to rap so I couldn't tell you how it does at 20 hz..

I put the amp under the driver's seat, and basically tapped into the existing speaker wires, rather than running all new ones. I have the factory CD changer, and premium sound, so I was easily able to tap into the speaker wires at the bottom of the dash (at the factory amp).

I have a few pictures of my speakers on my website (see sig for link) if you're interested in checking them out. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me - kelly@NOSPAMfordf150.net
(take out the NOSPAM)
