I wouldn't doubt if it's "Covercraft" which is who makes the bra for our L's.

My buddies came woth one and it's an 01L. I didn't get one on mine . The option is a 150 for the cover . I didn't think it would last for many years so I said no .

Incon306 on this board got a cover from the factory on his '01.

01SVT why are you looking for the company? Need a part or trying to get a good deal ?

I have lots of parts for the factory cover, I could probably put together a whole kit...

email me if I can help: araja@megapathdsl.net

Thumbs up

When I had a 98 F-150 before my new 01 Lightning, I was going to order the Factory Ford tonneau cover for it, until I talked to the parts dept. at the dealer..

I think it was around 450.00 to 500.00 to get all the parts for the factory tonneau cover. You have to replace the top rails on the truck...
You can buy a hard cover for almost as much as it costs for the soft so this gives you something to think about.

I special ordered my new 01 with the factory cover at a cost of 125.00..I figured if I ended up not liking it, I would buy a hard top..So far I like the soft top...

Later,
DL

I bought my 2001L from my dealer after the guy that ordered it never came to pick it up.I had the dealer put a cover on it,they said it was the same kind that comes from the factory but it has snaps. Its a Sport Master, Newton Falls,Ohio. I hope this helps.

The factory cover does not have snaps, you do not have to change the rails and it is not made by Covercraft, or Sport Master. It is a great deal from the factory and a very bad deal from the dealer parts dept.
I know for a fact, not a guess that the top is made by Invostyle\Bestop Georgia. I know that David(99 or 1999Lightning?) has asked me for this when I met him in Feb. Dave I still can't find the contact name or the phone# but i did find the name of the company and a town(Eastman)
I dealt with them direct AFTER I bought my cover from parts and had a small issue. I then had a problem with the replacement top curling and called them again and we talked about some solutions and in a few weeks they sent me another improved top that has been totaly trouble free. I don't think they would, or could, for that matter sell you one. It is a Ford part.
As far as looks go it is one of the nicest soft covers I have seen, and I am one of those bad Lightning owners that makes my truck live outside (in the Florida sun)and it looks fine. It is also the correct color (grey, blay, blyver, the old timers might remember that thread!)not black.

All 3 '01 L's that came into my dealership had the factory tonneau. That's pure baloney that no '01 has them.

Sold mine to a guy passing through on a round trip from Miami to Toronto to L.A. and then back home to Australia. It's a bizarre world sometimes. Couldn't get him to buy any of my '00 chips or PSP filter or BABolt polished ProM MAF extension and sensor. (Wink, wink)
