soundproofing and stereo pics

Was looking at a JL Audio setup since I've had good exeriences in the past, but wanted something with a little more impact, and ended up spending less money as well.....heres the run down:

-Damplifier soundproofing from second skin audio on both doors, floor and rear wall
-Alpine MRP-M850 800w RMS amplifier - *cheap* on ebay
-Infinity Kappa 10" Subs - 350w RMS, 1400 Peak! $90 each at Amazon
-MTX Thunderform I found online for $50
-Pioneer DEH-5000UB receiver to connect to ipod
-Pioneer 6x8 Speakers for the doors (left rear stock)

800w is a little overkill for the subs, but from my experience higher-watt rated subs tend to be cleaner and hit tighter than your average 150w sub...which pays off when listening to the drum intro to "nickelback - follow you home".....hehe

Overall its a well balanced system and sound quality is not stellar but its good enough (besides I'll probably be listening more to the Bassani after its installed this weekend....). I've installed many systems before and this is probably my favorite, tuned to my ears....and the ipod control on the deck is very nice.

The box is an MTX Thunderform. It is only available with 10s. It comes with MTX 10s for about $300.

2 10s has to be more than enough for a single cab truck. 2 10s in a living room home theater -- with about 100 times the volume to pressurize, can shake the pictures off the wall.

I agree - get some nice 10"ers and you'll be set - unless you want to shake the rearview mirror off the car next to you, 12+ isn't necessary in a truck.

I also agree about the home theater - I have one 10 w/650 built in amp and it will shake the house!

Check ebay for the used thunderform enclosures, you can usually find them cheap, and if its not the same color - you can always paint it....

Yes - but honestly it didnt make as big of a difference as I'd hoped....wind noise seems to be just as loud as road noise on the freeway...so it helped, but its not as quiet as I'd hoped.

If you do some looking around you can get the box's a lot cheaper than advertised. I got mine with out the subs and being ampliphied. I got mine for $100.
