Question drag wheels

What wheels(rims) are you guys/gals using with your ET Streets? I read somewhere that you could/can use the spare tire rim, is this advised? Sorry I didn't go use the search, b/c I'm leaving for work right now (I'm late). Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't. I'd use at least 8" rims. American makes some for $60-$80 that work well. Be sure to get the right lug nuts with them. Lloyd

I'll bet I've got 5-6 times more passes than anyone else and they are all on 7" spare tire rims with no problems. However, it should be noted I run at an 1/8 mile strip not a 1/4 mile. Ultra make some nice 16X10 that you can get from Discount Tire.

The M/T 11.5x26x16 tires REQUIRE at least an 8" rim. the 10.5 would work with 7" rims. 7" rims on a 11.5 tire would be a severe comprimise. M/T lists acceptable rims as 8-10". Lloyd

The 7" wide rims work fin and will keep the tires at a max dia which will help keep the mph up in the 1/4 mile pass. You loose some surface contact but since I launch on 50-100 HP shots of nos and with some darn good 60ft times, what the heck do I know? The wider rims are recommended but the same people that make the tire and recommend the wider rim are the same people that make a 26" dia tire and won't make a 28" dia one. So, we half to improvise inorder to keep the mph up anyway we can. Oh one more thing the 7" wide spare tire wheels are real cheap compared to any other wheel.
Don't do as I do, that way I can still beat you..............

Why would anybody buy the 10.5 when you can get the 11.5. They run fine on 7" rims and 18 psi hot.

I have the regular cheap silver 16 X 7 F150 wheels for my M/T's (26 X 10.5). So far I haven't had any problems, but I'm only getting mid 1.9 60's since my truck is basically stock.

I have some Ultra Wheel black steel rims 16x10 and 11.5 M/Ts. Do not like them at all. I will soon be getting some stock rims to mount my tires to. I'm ready to try something new, my best 60ft is a lousy 1.91!! They always seem to spin a little no matter what.

Cool

Thank you all very much for the info. I will be getting another spare tire rim, and will be pricing some MT ET's size, 11.5. Can't wait.
