@ about 2000 miles and in 60 degree weather I ran a best time of 13.73 and my best mph was 99.83. My truck was completely stock with a 1/4 tank of gas. What is weird is that my MPH's were higher when the truck was hot, but the best times were when it was cold. I plan on going to the track Fri. with the only mod being a K&N and a little over 5000 miles on the odo. All of my previous runs were done by power braking, but this time I'm going to see if there is any difference by just leaving at idle.

My times are right in line with the others'. So far, I've always run my truck in full street trim, just how I drove it to and from the track. This includes bedliner, alarm, and approximately 1/2 tank of gas. My best numbers so far are here:
60' 2.130 (still sucking on launches)
1/8 8.894 @ 80.76
1/4 13.765 @ 101.09

What happens with a drag tire: The running surface grips, the sidewall wrinkles and more thread contacts the road, leading to even more grip. The tire is designed to have a very soft sidewall and a very stiff running surface. This means the running surface is flat at al pressures, and the sidewall will wrinkle more with decreasing pressure.
With a low profile road tire, there is NO sidewall wrinkle to be had. The running surface however, can "cup" inward, running on the shoulders when the load gets too high. I think most people get into this situation of a too high load for the pressure upon leaving the start line, and then run on the shoulders of the tire, and then lose grip and spin.
