Hi Paul,

Yes, you can order that right here from the F-150 Online Store, which you can access just by clicking on the link on the left side of your screen that says "Online Store".

Or, you can also call them directly at (916) 361-2510, and they'll be happy to help you!

Good luck!

Thanks guys. I thought the Airraid system came with a box that seals to the hood that keeps it from drawing in hot air from the engine? Is this the same one?

What year is you truck. If it is a 01 I would not use the airrid. They have not mad them fit the 01's yet, and they told me that there would be no gain because there is a 1 inch defference in diamter of the 00 & 01's. I had one and sent it back.

SpeedRacer29: Just read your post and immediately tried to cancel MY airraid filter that I ordered thru their online dealers StreetBeat, in AZ). When I called the dealer, he made a phone call direct to Airaid (I waited on hold) and they said they sent out 3 units the past 2 weeks and asked each L owner to let them know if they had any problems. ALL said it fit fine; no problems. Airaid claimed that their unit was already on the large side anyways, and that the '01's should have little trouble at all. Each of the 3 L buyers claimed in increase in boost; so they do work.

So... did you actually try to fit this item, perhaps it was defective? What exact problem did you have in fitting? Airaid would like to know directly.

Thanks.

If you will measure the differnce in the diamter of your mass air, and the part of the box you hook it up in you will see the difference. It is like 1 inch or more in difference. You will have to make an adaptor to make it work. I also called airaid my self, and talked to a guy there. I can't remeber his name, but he told me that they had not made a box for the 2001 and there is a diffeance. He also said he was not sure if they would make one for the 2001. He suggested that I send it back. i race cars and do a lot with air to carbs. What I have learned, and this is on carbs, is that if you make the hole that the air is going there smaller you are going to lose HP. The more air you get the more power. Think of how much extra air can come threw a 2 inch hole than a 1 inch hole. The box may work, but I do not see any big gains, and that is also is what the guy told me. Plus the airaid is supposed to increace air flow, but if you close the whole it is actualy ristricting it. I may be wrong but that is what I came to. Also the papers they send are for a 99. If you get it and see the difference send it back. Don't waste your money because people like Johnny Lightning are making good ram air kits for 2001. If it does work let me know.

Thumbs up

The present Airaid kit does bolt on the 2001 fine. The sensor will mount in the existing hole as well, but you'll have to "whittle" a little of the excess plastic on one side of the sensor. I machined the hole in the 99-00 Airaid to exactly fit the 90mm opening & welded in a new collar the proper size. The filter sent with the 99-00 kit easily fits over the new flange. The differnce in the 99-00 Airaid opening & the 90mm opening to the MAS is a little less than 1/2". I would not hesitate to use the 99-00 model on a 2001 without modification, in fact, I doubt all the work I did to fit mine to the new size made any difference in true performance. I simply have the tooling & skills at my disposal to make such mods. in my spare time, so I did. Good luck. Oh & BTW, the Airaid really lets the S/C sing.

Why buy smaller when you can get bigger? 99/00's have a smaller air inlet setup stock from the maf to the fender. If you can get the same size air filter setup i.e. 4" why buy an old 99/00 setup? Just my .02

Has anyone tried SALS filter kit on a 01 Lightning? I'm looking at getting one when I send in my flip back to SAL for the 4 way re-burn.

I don't think Sal has one yet for the 01. I would have considered his because I had one of his on my 99 and it was first rate...

Thanks for the input; I guess I won't go thru the hassle of trying to fit the Airaid if it wasn't made for the '01L. The Airaid service rep did tell me that Airaid was NOT going to adapt for the '01's at this time. I think that is a bad move; with at least 4,000 + units coming out this year, you would think that even a small percentage of Airaid buyers would make it worth their while.

I'll have to contact JL and see what they have and how much.
