Post Don't need no stinking beemer

Before I got the L, my girlfriend tried to talk me into getting a BMW, or something, anything, more "refined."

I got the L anyhoo, of course.

Now, every time I take her for a ride in it she says, "I don't get it...all the guys stare at your truck!"

No, Hunny-McBunny. Now you get it.

AC
I was thinking about the 540 6-speed, but test drove one and the L just fits me better. I argee about the reaction factor. This is so much more fun than the BMW

Cool

I have had a zillion complements on my truck, and 80% of them have been from women.

My other vehicle is an 850, it's an incredibly solid and well made car with a v12 and 6 speed. When I first drove an L, I was amazed at how good it was compared to my beemer. It felt stable at high speeds, the engine feels good at any speed and the blower whine is music in a different way than a v12, both are sounds of a serious engine. And it's a useable truck as well!
The L is a rare combination of parts that make for a great vehicle. It does everything it set out to do better than anyone could have thought, it's very fast, handles well, stops well and is still useable as a truck.

I know what you mean about the people staring at it. Everytime I take out a new girlfriend in my area, they always freak out about all the people asking me questions and just comming up to me off the street asking me about my truck. cause they all say, well its just a truck (ITS NOT JUST A TRUCK!), but the Guys know what it is and they want to know more.

the one day I had my ex kim with me and we went to denny's to get some food. well we pulled out of another parking lot going towards denny's and this car did a u turn and followed us. she was asking if I knew them and I was like, I have no clue who these people are. Well we get into the parking lot and park and the car is sitting back about 20 feet watching us. we're sitting there and she's ask me if I know them again, and of course I was like I have no clue who they are. So I told her that there probably just checking out the truck and they want to see it and ask about it. well we get out and sure enough the pull up to me an start with the questions and the gaulking. Well needless to say Kim was in shock that somebody would pull a u-turn on the busiest street in my town and follow us about 3 or 4 miles just to look at the lightning. I laughed the whole way home that night.

Of course, RT, your truck isn't exactly a normal L either...
