Question Bug Defelctors?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if these things actually help keep the windshield any cleaner.

With the warmer weather here now, I've been cleaning bugs off alot, and its starting to get wearisome. Besides the fact I have about 8 rock chips in my windshield now (all small).

Thanks,
Daniel

Hey Dan, I ran a bug shield on my 99, and in the 18 months I had it, my windshield looked like it was sandblasted. My thinking is the deflector just deflects debris to the windshield. I am running the SVT bra on my new one, to keep rock chips down, only time will tell if it's a better call. Bruce

Replacement windshields under my insurance are $100.00. Hood repainting is much more. Bug deflector protects the front of the hood from rock hits and dead bug acid that eats thru the paint. Your call.

I had a bug deflector years ago on my ranger. It worked good for rocks and most debri, but stuff like bugs and dirt got through it.

If you do much highway driving, you'll find its easier to clean the delfector than it was the hood.

Thumbs up

My defelctor cuts about half a second off my quarter mile time.

Had one, took it off. It scratced up the front end when the hood closed. Paint is chipped and scratched. Dont get one, looks better without it anyway!
