Question Paging BOLT

Hi Bolt I have a question for you. I just ordered A Heavy Duty C-Section kit from Western Chassis. I was wondering did you take off your bed to install the C-Sections??? What did you use to cut the Frame??? My friend has a Plasma Cutter did you use a Plasma Cutter to cut your frame??? I just cannot handle my Lightning always bottoming out while driving with the Bell Tech 3/4 kit and Western Chassis 2 inch A-arms.
Thank you in Advance, DJY

DJY,
I did not have to remove the bed. The frame is pretty soft material so a Sawzall with a metal cutting blade works well. On the driver's side you will have to contend with the gas tank if you use heat. Also take a look above the 3rd member and around the middle of your drive shaft. You might want to modify these points. Send me an e-mail if you want to talk live.

Bolt, Thank you for the advice. My friend who is going to help me has a Sawzall too! It might be safer using the Sawzall. I'll update you when I finish. I'll check the third member too! DJY

DJY, make a cardboard template that matches the inside of the c-section, scribe it into the frame so you know exactly where and how much to cut.

Bolt, Got my C-Section Plates arrived today from Sport Truck Direct they sent me the C-section plates but forgot to send the hardware - bolts, washers, nuts, and new bump stops, template and instructions. Am I just cutting out the section where the hole is in the middle of the C-section plate, where the axle goes thru and bolting the plate to my frame??? Good idea you suggested in case there is no template. I'll probably install next weekend when I have all the hardware sent to me in Hawaii. I'll keep you posted. Thank you, DJY

Yes... only take out material in the middle.
The C-section bolts all around where you will make the cut, side and bottom. Have a large "C" type clamp to hold it in place when you mark your holes. I found that it worked best when I drilled a small pilot hole and used a 1/2" Unibit. You might want to relocate the driver side emergency brake cable to under the spring.

Question

David, what the heck are you doing to your truck now? I'll be in Haleiwa on the 25th, 26th, and 27th. My kid and I would kind of like to scope out your ride. Can you give me your phone #, if you don't mind?
