Post new_guy is happy!

new_guy will now be known as blown150. I hope this doesn't infringe on anyone else's nick.

I picked up my new black '01 on Weds (5-9-01). I am happy! This truck is everything I thought it would be and more. Every guy in my neighborhood wants one now! I tried to break it in slow but I've got ~430 miles on it now and today I saw the tach hit redline. Almost every vehicle that pulls next to me on a red light wants to see what it can do! Oh well, I tried.

I got behind a row of 8 cars yesterday on a 2-lane section of 59 west (you Houston guys know what I'm talking about) going 60. It was awesome to pass the whole bunch without even getting nervous about the curve ahead. I had plenty of room! My father-in-law was following, though, and said the Tahoe who tried to follow me almost ate it!

There is only one other '01 L in my town (red!) and I'm gonna try to talk to the owner this week. This truck draws attention more than I thought it would. Must get radar detector, stat! I don't put much faith in them, but they do remind you to slow down pretty often with the false alarms.

My last muscle car was a slightly modified '67 Mustang fastback (289, Edelbrock intake, Holly 4bbl, and headers) about 15 years ago. I wrecked it shortly after a frontage road 1/4 mile race against a Porshe 911 (I lost). A damn Plymouth Roadrunner plowed into me at 100+ mph. I'm lucky to be alive and I purposely bought a slow MGB because of that experience. I think once you've driven a powerful vehicle and got the bug, there's no going back. I've never really liked any of the 10 vehicles I've owned since that Mustang until now. That Porsche wouldn't have a chance against my L! I'm definitely a Ford guy and I can't wait to waste a few Camaros and Vettes.

Sorry for the long post. I'm a little bit excited.

Randy

Thumbs up

Thanks Silver,

I've been lurking for a while and picked up a lot of interesting info. Let the mods begin!

I'm really impressed with some of the reports on the lower pulley. I'm a little hesitant about replacing the chip, though. I hate to void my warranty. My dealer is already mad at me since I told them to stick thier 9.99% financing where the sun doesn't shine. Hehe!

alright randy! just picked up my silver L last tuesday. just rolled up to 700 miles--it gets better each day. get an escort 8500 detector. i've had mine about 6 months-just hard-wired(get hard wire from escort too-$10) it by running wire to right behind second visor, down door rubber seal, into area behind rt. kick panel, attach(3m crimp comes with kit) red lead to green wire at lowest(on floor) connector and black wire to grounding bolt nearby. other guys have wired to 12v in overhead console but i found this to be easier and you don't want that extra weight that high up(hehehehe).
