I erased my stock computer file with the Predator a couple of years back. That's an expensive mistake that isn't hard to make. I'm sure it was my fault; but, as far as I can tell, with over 2 years of fiddling with it, It can't be done with the XCal. Plus my local tuner likes SCT better. Good enough for me.

I exclusively use Predators, however use what your tuner recommends. They both do the same thing, it's who punches the keys that matters...
99.9% of issues had with ANY programmer is usually User Error...

I was trying to be nice and not bash the Predator; but, I've used programmers, from several different manufacturers, since Hypertech started marketing the things. The Predator has the most misleading prompts in the business. They are just poorly thought out. The fact that it is even posible too erase the original program for your vehicle is stupid in itself. Sure, I did something wrong. I bought one of those pieces of crap.

I only know the Xcal3. Easy to use, and good customer service from Troyer. I know there are others...but I acted as a sheep, because most get their tunes from him. Mike does a lot of tunes. I went with experience, and the advice from other F150onliners.

I have not seen any complaints about Troyer and the Xcal3. Before I purchased, I started a thread that asked "How many miles on your custom Troyer tunes." A couple of guys had over 100k. Thats the main reason I went with them. Anyone who says 20k and no problems...makes me laugh

Thumper loves Justin at VMP. Not sure how many miles he put on his lifted truck, but I just wanted to give another option.

The Edge guys love their tunes from Bill, but dont seem happy with the Edge until Bill fixes them. I only know this because of the threads I have read.

How can a prompt saying Turn the Ignition On or Off be misleading?

In order for a Predator (or any other programmer) to reprogram the computer it must first erase the factory programming. If the programmer is interrupted while writing the new program to the computer (because of lack of voltage, or the programmer gets unplugged etc...) you should be able to restore the original backup, or give diablosport tech support a call and have the original backup forced in and be back running again.

As many as you want, just keep hitting the "MORE" button. Also, increase horespower with the "+" button.

IMO, The actual device is not as important as the person putting the tunes in it, do some searching an pick a know Lightning tuner then use what they recommend, I've been happy with my SCT XCAL 2 but all I use it for is to dump in one of two tunes, I don't data log, code search or any of the other features I just use it like a flash drive, if your not tuning it yourself I think either would be fine.
