Post PSP pully installed on 01

I don't know If I'm the first, but I got my pully in the mail yesterday and installed it today. The 01 setup is slightly different than the 99/00's but should give the same results.

Took the truck for a drive and all I can say is wow!! The boost guage would go up to exactly 10 before. Now the guage easily goes well into the black. I did some unofficial g-tech runs from 0-60 and this morning in 50 degree temp ran 5.2sec.This afternoon at an indicated 60 degrees(on the truck display) ran 4.8 sec 0-60. The real test will be at the track, but I believe it should favorable.

My first trip to the track (Byron ill.)in April it ran 13.2's at 103mph.

Are most Lightnings making 10 lbs of boost stock? I think mine is only making 8 lbs.?!?!

martyr,
Mine used to be around 8lbs, but with the filter kit and the cool air we had today it came come up higher. Nostromo is right, the guages are just a guide, don't take it to seriously.
Hope it helps, Brian

I feel a lot better with the stock upper, and the PSP lower, now for the 150 shot. lol

How hard is the pulley to install? Do you need any special tools? What kind of $$ do they cost. Is it best to do just a lower pulley or chip? Maybe both? Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff,
The pully kit was around $240 or so and included the bracket needed to prevent the engine from turning while removing the center pully bolt. It also came with a allen socket needed to remove that old pully. Pretty much all you need for tools that arn't supplied with the kit are common wrenches and things like that. It took about an hour to install, and really wasn't very hard except getting the belt back on when done. I orderd a little longer belt and will put it on when it comes in.

You could do the pully only if you don't want to install a chip. You really can't believe what these trucks can do until you have a chip and filter installed though. It tranforms it into a totally different beast.
