the way i see it, this is good news and bad news, mostly bad news:

badnews:

article says the 03 f150 harley davidson edition will use the current 5.4 lightning engine w/sc. but rousch wil detune it so its 20 hp less than L.

now that means it will be 360 hp, ie it will be on par with 99 and 00 Lightnings. unless they bump the L power in 03 again, then it will be as powerful as the 01 lightning!!! plus i am sure enthusiasts can easily retune it to gain the same hp as the L.

Nice try. The HDs weigh alot more. They will be quick for an extended cab truck though.

It just doesn't makes sense. I mean harley's were never about power, they are about attitude and styling...which is what the harley f-150 already has plenty of.

I wasn't insulting harley's...in fact I love them...and have ridden several. You don't need to own one to understand them. Unfortunately I cannot afford to spend 20 grand on a freaking bike.

That said...i think it is obvious to everyone except you, that harleys are about cruising, not flying. If you want to go really fast get a rice rocket.

if the 03's have the blower, the older ones value will drop like a rock. that would be a harley first

my question is, if thius harley is within 20 hp of the current lightning it will at least be in the ballpark of the 99-00 extended cab or no......will it devalue current lightnings? i think this is going to take away, at least a little from the L. just my $.02

I would love to get a super crew cab HD truck with the lightning drivetrain as a factory option. I will agree with you that Harleys are mostly made for cruising but with the Zippers 95 cubic inch kit, heads, cams, carb, the whole deal it makes 110 H.P. and 110 foot pounds of tourqe. So if you ever see me on my harley I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't even get buy me with your Lightning. I will be bringing the bike to New England Dragway in a couple of weeks. I'm guessing low 12's or maybe even some high 11's. With the bags and all.

Oh yeah..I totally agree that you can mod it to go fast...my point was that speed is not what Harleys are really about. And I think you agreed with that...so why do we need to throw our motor in it? Get what I'm saying?

I mean ANYTHING can be modded to go fast. We've all seen that kick *** turbo minivan right?

SWEEEEEEEET looking bike by the way. I don't like it in MI, there are no cruisers to ride with, everyone here rides sport bikes.

I'm sure that you and many others would love to get the L drivetrain in the harley. Problem is that it takes away from what makes an SVT unique. If they use SVT parts all over the place in other fords, it hurts SVT.

There are a ton of Harley guys that are out in front of the "Grind" coffee house on Jefferson Ave. in Wyandotte, MI almost every night that's warm. A lot of good guys there; coffee ain't bad either.
