What all affectes boost levels with a built engine?

What all affectes boost levels with a built engine?

Just like the title says, do things like the heads/cams/pistons affect what levels of boost the engine puts out, or is it all centered around which pully combo is used. Also does porting affect the levels also? I plan to run a stock upper and a 4# lower for the start and then might bump up the lower later on. How much boost do you guys think the whipple 2.3 will put out with the 4#er and built engine?

Setup:
8.9:1 compression ratio
04' 5.4 block
Manley Forged H-beam rods
C-P forged pistons with 17cc dish
Hell fire ring set
main bearing set
rod bearing set
melling oil pump with steel gears
Ferrea stainless intake valves
Ferrea stainless exhaust valves
Manley valve spring set
Comp Cams with custom grind, (basically is a stage 2 cam with minor adjustments for the convertor, grind is being done by Cam Motion)
ARP head stud kit
ARP main stud kit
VAT and magnafluxed the block
align hone main bore
bore and hone cylinders w/ torque plate
balance the rotating assembly
high performance valve job
port and surface the cylinder heads
Dynatech Lt's with mids
Bassani Catback
2.3 Whipple w/ 4# lower
Twin 255 fuel pumps
SCT BIG Air 2400 MAF
65mm Twin BBK throttle body
65lb injectors
Protorque convertor w/ 2700 stall
FTVB

Boost is just a measure of intake pressure (i.e., restriction)...port your heads and boost may drop, free-flowing exhaust and boost may drop, different cams and boost may drop.

not sure with supercharges but on turbos you get whats called boost creep. anything from colder air to larger ports. headers bigger exhaust, open intake, anything that makes it flow better can make it boost more effectivley.

on a supercharger your controlled by a pulley and the engine rpms. so i think you run the same lbs. if anything you could lose some pressure with bigger combustion chambers and ports

I thought 'boost creep' came from an ineffective wastegate...but that's just me.

From Garrett's website:

What is boost creep?
Boost creep is a condition of rising boost levels past what the predetermined level has been set at. Boost creep is caused by a fully opened Wastegates not being able to flow enough exhaust to bypass the housing via the Wastegates itself. For example, if your boost is set to 12psi, and you go into full boost, you will see a quick rise to 12 or 13psi, but as the rpm's increase, the boost levels also increase beyond what the boost controller or stock settings were. Boost creep is typically more pronounced at higher rpm's since there is more exhaust flow present for the Wastegates to bypass.
Effective methods of avoiding or eliminating boost creep include porting the internal Wastegates opening to allow more airflow out of the turbine, or to use an external Wastegates.

Boost is just a measure of intake pressure. Anything in the air path can inpact boost. What you actually care about is supercharger power used and total air throughput (which are both reasoanbly hard to directly measure).
