Post Headers?

This is a dumb question, but oh well.
a.) What do headers do in the engine?
b.) What does changing them out do?

Sorry for the stupid question.

It turn sthe muffler bearings faster...lol Just kidding.
Headers are the pipes that bolt directly to your engine exhaust ports or head if you will and outlet to your catalytic converter piping..... The convertor is the part which reduces emissions.....you need this to pass annual inspections.
Aftermarket headers will reduce exhaust restrictions creating in effect more horsepower.....However if you do a search stock headers seems to flow just fine and might be a waste of money considering a five horsepower increase isn't a whole lot.
Hope this helps

NOSTROMO - Thanks for the answer. Makes since now. So, Headers ARE a waste of money. That's what I thought. Thanks again.

Headers are not necessarily a waste of money. We do know the "shorties" like Bassani and others don't do much on the Lightning application.

We'll just have to see what long-tube headers well do on the dyno in the very near future. (Hint-Hint)
