Don't do the temp stuff Jason. Some guys have let theirs run completely dry when waiting for a new IC. Just remember anything you put in IC coolant will end up in the motor and maybe on the blower rotors. When you dump boost like you did by hitting the rev limiter the air is bypassed back into the blower. If its leaking really bad I would let it go dry. If it goes down just a little bit then I would most likey add abit.

About three weeks ago my intercooler started leaking real bad so I put 3 ounces of Bars Leak, half a bottle of Watter Wetter, a little anti-freeze, and the rest distilled water in it. Since then it hasn't leaked a drop.

I put in a half bottle of bars leak, the gray bottle. I ran it for two days, about 75 miles. Drained the resorvior and filled it back up. Drained it again about 300 miles later and filled it with antifreeze, distilled water, and water wetter. No leak. I would rather install the bars leak than let my intercooler run dry and detonate under 80-90 heat.

Question

Seems to be two distictly opposing views on what to do with a leaky IC. What does Ford say to do in the interim between leak, and their super duper fix when they get around to it? Run dry? Let it leak and keep it full, or use some temp alternative?

I have had the bars leak in it for about a thousand miles and no problems! I had a very slow leak and now none. Josh

I don't personally know ANYONE who has used BarsLeak. There certainly are not "many" who have used it. Maybe one or two on this board?

I would never think of using it. Get it fixed right. I'm just letting mine leak until I get the fix. I have a slow leak, so I'm just adding distilled water as it needs it.

Thumbs up

I asked the guy who is rebuilding my tranny about the Bars Leak, and he gave me a can of BG cooling system sealant, said it works better that Bars Leak and will not hurt the motor. I added a can, and it stopped the leak pronto, none lost since. I intend to wait for "the fix".

I guess I stand corrected. More peope are using the stuff than I thought.

Mine is a slow leak, and I'm getting it fixed soon, so I'm still not putting anything in it.
