Flash01,

FFW (Fun Ford Weekend, www.funford.com ) is a racing series held around the country at different tracks throughout the season. This weekend (May 5/6) it will be held at Houston Raceway Park ( www.houstonraceway.com ).

HALO (Houston Area Lightning Owners, www.haloclub.com ) and the Texas Chapter will have an area staked out in the pits for us and our friends to hang out, work on each others' trucks and race in the event. There is also a car/truck show that will be happening as well.

Come on out and join us, it will be a blast!

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info guys. What do I need to do the run a few time trials. Is it like normal, do I just pay a little extra at the gate on Friday night? I would rather make some passes on Saturday if possible. See ya there

flash01,

You probably will not be able to make many "passes" Saturday. Gates open 7:00AM. 8:00AM to 12:00PM Participant Registration. Time trials start 9:00AM to 11:30.

Fun Ford Weekend is a racing series as Chuck(Wyldman)stated. If you want to just make a few passes then Friday would be better for you although this Friday I'll bet is gonna be real busy for Test and Tune in preparation for Saturday.

I'll be there to support HALO but not racing, yet......

Wyldman,

Is it just me or is there a problem with HALO's web site? I can't get on to it. What's up?

Looking at the FFW rules all the classes run Pro Tree and the only class any truck would qualify for is Top Truck is that right ?

The new rule added this year states "Air or electronic shifting devices prohibited. Transmission must be shifted by the driver"

What exactly does that mean ?
Thanks in advance
Doug

Doug?

That is for manual transmissions. Some of the bigger racers use CO2 to change the gears instead of them selfs. They have also use servos some times too.

But since these trucks come with automatic transmissions, we are not effected by these rules.

Cool

You can also race in one of the bracket classes. Fast Ford is from 0.00 to 12.99 and electronics are allowed. Quick ford is from 7.50 to 17.99 with no electronics. And they also have Street Ford, which is requires DOT's and mufflers. Fast Ford has a $1000 pay out, Quick Ford $500, and Street Ford class is giving away trophies. All these classes are running a complete day of eliminations Saturday and Sunday and pay out both days. Top Truck Pays $300 to win and you only have on chance to win on Sunday with no time trials that day. Because of this I'll probably be running Quick Ford.

Actually, the air actuated solenoids are used with rachet shifters on automatics. They are electronically controlled to shift at a certain RPM, making the shifts more consistant. But I doubt to many L's have to worry about that.
