Question water temp guage install

I have a question where do you install the fitting for the water temp guage sensor? Any one have any pictures? Thanks.

Here is where I tapped mine. Due to this location, your gauge will be off until the thermostat opens. Maybe it's just me but I'm not really concerned so much with the temp prior to the 'stat opening.

How did you tap it and what was the thread size? Do you remember speeding bob? That Looks good to me.

The thread size is standard compression fitting (i think) but I bought a small tap and dye set at Lowes and the correct size was included...

sorry, need to check the tap...

Is there any way to use the factory temp sensor so you don't have to run wiring into the engine compartment?
