Post FORD SVT LICENSE FEES

According to a FORD dealer, who would only agree to sell me the L for MSRP (his lowest deal... take or leave it), the reason why they need to sell Ls at MSRP (or more) is to cover the $9K FORD SVT license fee (?) plus salaries for certified SVT technicians.

Wouldn't you be able to cover these expenses selling just a few Ls and Mustangs but not your entire allocation?

2 Lightnings would cover the 9k (MSRP). As far as the techs go, I don't know if they pay them any more. They might send them to a class. Someone posted about a dealer in Baton Rouge that was selling at X plan price (if you have a PIN). It was in the other thread.

They are in business to make money, not to just recover thier costs.

Amen, on that "in business to make money". I bet that the people who are looking for X Y Z plans would $hi@ if somebody came into their business and demanded a discount on services or parts. With that said, I wish i could have bought both my Lightning for less than sticker, but that's just human nature. I wanted the truck and they had one, so it was just argeeing on a price

Cool

Gator,
It never hurts to ask! I was willing to wait and travel for x plan, and I got it up in Jacksonville. No one in Orlando would do it. They also would do it on an ordered unit only. Our Cobra was built this Tuesday and we should get it near the 15th. Not quite the immediate gratification of an off the lot deal, but it saved $$$$. I also waited longer for the Lightning when I ordered it.

I felt my dealer was honest with me. He told me they pay 12K for the license and more money in the way of training SVT techs adn stocking parts, training saleman etc. He is the #1 dealer in the USA for Fords but won't budge on the L. Why should they, he has sold 7 this year at MSRP and not one has spent more than 48 hours on his lot.

We get FORD's X-Plan because we do mega-business, between corporations, and sell "our" products to FORD employees at below retail/market/MSRP prices.
However, we do not qualify/restrict products FORD employees select...
Guys, there is money to be made even if you sell low. You may not have 25%-30% margins but one can find nice 12%-15% points.

THey do have to pay about 10 G's to be an SVT dealer...but that part about SVT technicians is BS. They don't go through any sort of special training.

called sales mgr. at riverside ford(svt) in macon--asked for xplan. he said "no because we have to pay the svt fee"; he would honor xplan for anything(non svt) else. well, i drop by riverside once or twice a week just to look at their white 01L--it's been there 2 months now! i drove 70 miles and bot at xplan--this dealer sells more L's than any one in ga.--they also just received ford's president award(supposed to be a big deal?).

Our local dealer tried that 'SVT License' move with me but did offer 700 off MSRP. I went down to another dealer in Maryland who sold me my Silver O1 L for much less. Even if the license and training is 12K a year, if a dealer can sell just 12 SVT's per year, it's only a grand a piece, right? And, that is for all SVT's not just L's! Dealers always have some line to try and take your money.

I went to my nearest SVT dealer and they wouldn't honor my X-plan on SVT vehicles...In fact, I paid $33,900 for my 99 back in '99. Hell, MSRP would have been a discount for me!!! But then again...I got what I wanted, when I wanted it.
