Post icing the supercharger

I went to the track today and brought a few bags of zip-lock baggies filled with ice. In the pits i would throw the ice on-top of the supercharger. Does this actually help the cooling of it?? I noticed about a .6 (tenth) difference in the 1/4. Is there an ice resevoir that is availabe for these trucks which enable you to dump ice chunks into a resevoir to cool down the truck even more?? Thanks for your input, Anything is apprectiated

that is what I do, I think it helps a little. I did run my fastest time ever after cooling it down for bout' 1/2 hr or so. The top of the s/c was cold after I was done. I just by a bag of ice & plop is on top. Perfect size!

JL sells one that sits in place of the battery(you relocate that to the bed).

I have run my quickest time with my intake iced. But there is a downside. We have a huge resivour under the intercooler were the water can run too and pool up. You go up to run and when you launch all the water run out on the track. Last year i accidently did this and left a trail of water all the way down they had to shut down the track for 20min to clean upo needless to say i did alotr of apologizing. Be Careful

I just got a Pro Cooler. I will be using it next week when I go to the strip and I will tell everyone how it works.

One night I was bsing with some guy that claimed he new a lot about metals. He was at the track one day and saw a bunch of us throwing ice on different parts of our engines. He said thats one of the best ways to crack something.

But I dunno, he wasnt winning very many races.

Being the frugal individual I am (read cheap) I've thought tha tthe simplest thing to do would be to simply add a small oil cooler inline with the supply to the intercooler. Simply place the oil cooler in a container that one could add ice water to. Therefore you get a nice cold fluid sent to the intercooler.

Anyonesee any problems with this?

Cool

I saw a very nice set up at FFW this weekend. I won't give the guy's idea away comepletely, but the resevoir goes in the bed. The battery stays where it's at. Best of all: It was very inexpensive and completely reversable if you ever want to go back stock.
