Guess that depends on the confidence you have in your dealer. I have a great rapport with my Ford dealer and I know a number of the techs who work there. I had no problem leaving my truck with them to replace my IC (went bad at 14.5k miles).
They got the parts w/in 24hrs after ordering them, and once I brought the truck back in (was diagnosed w/ the problem the first time in), it took one day to replace it.
The "fix" could be a long wait.
