while you were doing the work did you put bigger pistons in it and increase the cubic inches. Maybee you could make it 5.8 liters.

Just got back from the madien voyage on the new motor. Man, this truck has never been so quiet since I've owned it. It's kind of wierd not hearing anything but the exhaust. I was actually proud to drive it today. I have always loved the truck, and like to looks it gets, but honestly, I've always been embarrased while driving it because of the loud motor noise. People OOH and AHH and then they hear the motor and it sucks. I didn't have that feeling for the first time today. Too bad it's getting traded in on the 01 in a few weeks.

Sal,

glad to see you back in business and look forward to reading the diagnosis.

Does this mean Spiro, Johnny, (myself from Indy on) have to follow your varying speeds or will you be playing leapfrog?

Just about the right amount of break-in miles from NY to St. Louis.

I'm lost. What happened to the motor? Piston slap?

Well, got her fired up and sounding GOOD. Just to recap, I honed the block, replaced all 8 pistons, rods, rings, rod bearings, new oil pump and screen, and two new head assemblies. All stock Ford parts since this is under warrenty. I did it all with the motor IN the truck too . I gotta say, this truck has NEVER had such a quiet motor since I've owned it. It's great. Just gotta break the new rings in a bit, and it should be WFC ready. And don't think I forgot about the info I said I was going to share about what I found when I took the motor apart, that will come soon.
