Post Z06 At The Track

Saw my first Z06 run at Tri-State Dragway this past Saturday. It was a pretty sweet looking silver one. The guy made two or three passes, best time was around 14.1 at 100-and-change MPH. Just goes to show that a powerful car with a manual isn't that fast unless the driver knows what he/she's doing. Don't be afraid to give these guys a try - I suspect ther's a lot of squids like this guy out there.

On the other hand, there were about 30 or 40 other 'Vettes there - mostly C5's. They were having a big club get-together. Most were running high-12's/low-13's at around 107-112 MPH. A couple stealthy-looking ones were in the 11's at around 120 MPH. Big trouble at the strip, but I suspect Lightning-bait in the stoplight drags.

On a similar note, I crushed a new WS6 Trans Am that ran a 15.17 at 73 MPH (most of it sideways) to my 13.85 at 99 MPH. All the horsepower in the world isn't worth a damn if you can't put it to the ground. On the street it would have been even more laughable. He ran a 2.404 60-foot and also was "nailed to the tree" on the start. Too funny.

There are a number of bone-stock Z06 Vettes running 12.3-12.6s @ 113-115mph ... with competant drivers.
