Thumbs up First trip to Milan Dragway 1/4 ET'S

The ARMY National guard was sponsering the HIGH SCHOOL Nationals today at Milan Dragway.

I loaned a friend my truck for the instructor calss. His first practice run is as follows:

1.29----reaction
2.125---60 ft.
5.780---330 ft.
8.752---1/8 ET.
81.68---1/8 MPH
11.342--1000'
13.537--1/4 ET
103.64--MPH

2nd practice was 13.613 @ 103.47. We only got two practice runs in before eliminations started. These are the best two times out of the day. He made it past first round on a red light then got nocked out by .059.

My truck is still stock except for NGK plugs. It goes to the dyno next week for base line numbers. Then the MODS!

Very happy!!

Thor01,
Although I am looking for more bonestock 2001 comparisons. The problem is that I feel that I am a little low on power. My best 1/8th mile at 2400mi with factory street tires are as follows:
2.060---60ft.
5.795---330ft.
8.307---594ft.
8.876---1/8th mile
79.22---MPH

Let me know what your baselines come out to be....

Thanks!

2001Bolt,
I just turned 1200 miles on the truck as we got to the track. The NGK'S didn't feel lik they made any hp improvement on the A$$-O-METER.

The times my friend ran with the truck was his fist & second times driving it. He didn't get the chance to test it on the street. He has a 68 Hemi Road Runner he runs on the street and was very impressed with how fast it was out of factory.

You can see he was day dreaming on the light with a 1.290 Reaction time. He said the truck kept braking loose off the line. That you can see in his 60 ft. at 2.125. Had to get out of it then back in the throttle. Did you have a hard time hooking up?

I also kept the tailgate up and I have no cover. People were telling me my times would have been better if I would have lowerd it. I know it has drag to it, wanted to run it like I do on the street!

Alot of people were over at the truck asking what mods I did to get those times. I had to pull open the Air cleaner box just to show I had no K&N filter.

Alot of people were impressed with the truck running in the 13's stock. These Lightnings kick A$$. I'm realy happy with it.

I'll post my dyno numbers after it gets run!

LTNBOLT,
Thanks for the info. I didn't want to drop the tailgate, for fear of rocks hitting it.

Thanks.

BadBolt,
How many miles do you have on your truck? My truck didn't start running strong until the 800 mile mark. I thought I got a lemon motor when it started to miss at 68 miles. I gave it to SVT to find the problem. They found the #4 spark not firing. Once I got it back I put NGK'S in the motor. It's only getting stronger. I ran SUNOCO 94oct on Saturday also.

Thor01

I've got just over 1000 miles. About that miss, did it hit only once and only under part throttle, not WOT? Almost like a split second drop in power? If so, I've got it. Where did you take your L for diag. What NGK's do I use.

BadBolt,
My miss was gradual. It went from a light stuter to a bad shake at all RPM'S. I called SVT and told them what the truck was doing.

To make a long story short, they took it and Found the #4 spark plug was wet & not firing. They installed a new plug and I changed them all to NGK V Power plugs when I got it back.

Stock# 4177 TR-6. Haven't had a problem since. As for the slight loss in power I have it also! Not at WOT!

What04 asked about this on another post a while ago. I get it between 1/2 an 3/4 pedal. It has to do with the trans calibration. I don't know if was deliberate or an oops! Give the truck a little more time.

Let me fill you in on a little secret.

Cool

Thor01,

The tailgate makes absolutely, positively no difference. We had a discussion about this on NLOC and everybody that tried it both ways came to the same conclusion. Hope this helps.
I'm talking lowering it not taking it off.

Hey Thor, I work just down the street from you at Vehicle Ops General Offices. Or as we affectionately call it, Starship VOGO. We should hookup for lunch one day. I'll bring my coworker who's got a black 00.

Thumbs up

Chainsaw13,
sounds good to me! We can take the trucks down to HOOTERS in Taylor and get a picture with the girls and the trucks!

I'll be heading down to FEC on a development trip in a week. Were working on the cars getting them ready for the trip. Not much time for a Hooters lunch this week. I'll post for ya when I get back! Then meet up.
