Big Poppa---

Thanks....I had forgotten about Maroone. I bought an 5.0 LX from them years ago and they did treat me pretty good...even with all the mods I had.

Tim Burntire said he used Maroone in Margate and had good luck. I've really been holding off as long as I can to do the IC repair, but I may have to give in if Ford doesn't come out with the fix soon. I think I'm headed to Margate soon. Let us know how you make out.

I have been using Maroone Ford in Ft. Lauderdale. They are on Federal Hwy. just north of Sunrise Blvd. The Service manager has an L himself and everyone I have delt with there is really cool. They have done 2 intercooler fixes, one of the two was a complete motor. They know about the clunk, but I would contact Herb (action911) about his fix, as I think it is THE BEST!

Good luck with whoever you choose.

Unhappy South Florida owners-- help! (Long)

Does anybody know a good dealership around here that is knowledgable about the problems with the Lightnings? I went to Sawgrass Ford and talked to the service manager about the common problems...the clunk, alignment, and intercooler. I have all problems except the intercooler. I showed him posts from this website detailing how to fix the problems and when we discussed the intercooler (I asked if anyone had brought their L in for the leak) he insisted it was AIR cooled. I GUESS I MUST BE IMAGINING THAT RESERVIOR?!
Also, he warned that only an air filter and exhaust were ok...any evidence of a chip with any kind of engine problems would lead to a denial of service. (He described a Cobra that was chipped with a dead motor and they blamed the chip for lean running conditions and showed him the door-and said they discovered the chip evidence via the codes) Also he said there had better not be alot of tire residue in the wheelwells or street drag radials installed. Thought SVT sold performance vehicles??
I really don't want to go back to Sawgrass when my intercooler starts to leak. HELP!

This guys sounds like a real gem. That's usually what I tell the service manager when I drop the truck off for service.

When they start in on the "chip" just look at them and say "what's that?"

Hello all..

Well we all seem to live in the south florida area ( Miami to Ft Laud. ) this may help.. I just took my 99 L by Maroone Ford on 67th Ave in in North Miami.. Not to bad.. they seem to know whats up.. They have allready delt with a few Lightnings.

If I ever went to a dealer and they did not know the L had a liquid intercooler.. I would run ( not walk ) as far away from them as possible.
