Post Tires

I had to replace two tires at around 14k. I thought I was pretty easy on the truck most of the time. What kind of mileage are you people getting?

Realsmith,
We were able to get 22600 miles on the 2000L. I was shooting for 30000 miles, but I traded for a '01 Lightning. At each 3000 mile oil change the tires were rotated.

I stretched 22000 from mine with regular rotation and few burnouts. Could have gone to 30K yet been unsafe.

Just crossed 27k last night, and I have to rotate my tires one last time. If I put the front ones in the rear, I think I might get 30k out of them...

And everyone thinks I run my truck hard.

Unhappy

Changed mine at 16K. Too many powerbraking sessions and an "non-repairable" leak in one forced me to get a new set. They looked like mud-tires after seeing the lack of tread for so long on my old ones.

Mine were all replaced at 15K and the front tires still had at least 15K left on them but one has a cut near the side so I warrantied my tires...Gotta love working for Goodyear...LOL

Realsmith,
Hey just looked at OD and now am at 33850
very hard miles! (lots of hole shots) The
secret to getting some desent wear is to rotate very often so they wear about the same
all around. I mean like every 1500 miles or so. Also I have lowered mine and run Belltech
Nitro Actives and believe this helps lots.

Question

Hmmm, I've got about 17k on the originals, never rotated them, and they're all wearing about the same. Looks like I might get 20k-22k out of them without running them bald. I drive like a bat out of Hell, and I'm amazed they've lasted this long. I'm wondering what air pressure everyone's running, and if that makes a difference. I run mine at 32f/30r.

15,000 easy miles. Never rotated. Lot's of tread left. Backs have same amount of tread left as the fronts. I plan on getting another 15,000 or 20,000 out of them.

I never rotate tires anymore, because in the past when I have rotated tires .. the vehicle always seems to drive a bit different... wander and dart more than before the rotation.
Anyone else ever notice that? Or is it just my imagination?

This is a good discussion, but the critical part we are leaving out is what our driving profile is. Mostly highway miles? 50% highway miles? No highway miles? Mine was driven mostly (+98%) in town. EVERY stop light was followed by a mildly aggressive launch (gotta practice for the potential kills). I rotated the tires often, 3000-4000 miles - whenever I changed the oil….. and I squeaked 14K out of them. They weren’t bald when I replaced them, but I was at the wear bars. This is the most I’ve ever gotten out of any tire. I’m happy.

Sold my 99 with original tires at 38,000 km (23,600 miles). I still had around 1/4 tirelife left. No burnouts, lots of street drag and strip drag. No autocross
