Last night I found out that there was going to be an "ET Drags Summit Play Day" at the raceway in Fallon Nevada. I know the altitude sucks there, but figured I'd have a good time. I then found out the trip there was 250 miles. I already had helmets in the cab of the truck. We went to bed and figured on getting up at 4 A.M. In talking to my future wife in bed, she mentioned about wanting to go look at new homes/floorplans, in Pahrump Nevada. I decided that I didn't really want to drive 500+ miles today to get a couple sucky runs in at an elevated track.

We got up at 6:30 this morning and headed for Pahrump. It's about 150 miles to get there. Thanks to the people on this board, and my future wife, you've all made me **** about having a spotless truck. We got into town and found Carquest Auto parts for some more Meguiars Final Inspection #34. Then we found a spot in the shade and cleaned up ole Red real good. We were checking out the town and found the local ice cream stop. We were sitting outside and a couple came up and started talking about how good ole Red looked. Geez, I feel like a Ford salesman alot now. They asked if we were going to the car show? Car show? They gave directions and off we went. The better 1/2 got out and asked if we could still enter the show. They said that they had already started judging, and what do you have? She said an '01 Lightning. They said sure come on in, we'll take your money. We got parked and got hot on Red cleaning her up again. The wind and dust was blowing most of the day. We went looking at all the very nice cars & trucks there. Alot of people were checking out the L. They had a raffle, and then began announcing the winners of all the different classes. We entered in the "Stock Truck" class. They started by saying that all years were in the same "Stock Truck" class. We didn't figure we had much of a chance. Lo and Behold, we won a 1st. place trophy.
It was a very good day.

Congrats!!! I get people staring at me all the time. I never expected this much attention - it is only a pickup truck after all.
