Angry help, loosing boost after 1st gear, and .pinging like crazy

my truck has been running stong, until today,2 weeks ago,i installed a diablo chip, and an k&n panel filter, which in return picked me up 3 tenths, but today i was taking a friend a ride, and after the shift out of first, the truck quit boosting, and i think i heard some detonation,it has repeated this 3 more times, ive not had any check engine lights come on,and the truck runs fine until you get on it,any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated, please help.

You sure you got 92+ octane. Make sure you don't have a race program. Try some octane boost to get you throught what's left of your gas. Get it diaged at a dealer; don't run it hard if it's pinging. Take the chip out and see how it runs under boost.

What year is your Lightning? How many miles are on it? I understand that this happened 2 weeks after installing the chip? The first thinmg I would do is to remove the chip & see if all returns to normal. If yes, I would call Diablo & talk with them tomorrow. If the problem persists after chip removal, @ least you've eliminated the chip from the equation. Good luck.

Newsvt: it might be the gas in which you purchased thats probably causing the detonation. try different gas from a known source which carries a high grade fuel.as for the loosing boost are you spinning tires when this does this? and at what rpm is the tach going to? if the tach is around 5,650 rpms then its touching the fail safe mode in the pcm and opening the bypass valve.then after 45 seconds it will work fine.i'm just curious if it did this before when you installed the chip because usally it will happen right away not after its been in awhile. keep us posted....JL

JHONNY,when the chip was first installed,i took it for a short test run,and when it shifted out of first, the boost fell off, well i let off and turned around about a mile, down the road, and on my way back,it boosted through all gears, just fine,i thought it was just the truck getting use to the chip,im new at all of this, but it never did it again until yesterday, and acording to my tach, its nearly going to 6000 rpm before shifting, and yes its spinning bad on the street,at the strip last friday it was hooking very well, and running great,i thought about putting a couple of gallons of race gas in it,before i take the chip out and see what happens,it sorta sounds like i might have got a bad dose of gas,and some slick streets, ill will keep you posted, thankyou.

New SVT, sounds like you need to get the shift points lowered to about 5400 RPM's Then you won't lose boost. Also try to only use 93 octane (if it's avalable by you) I use Citgo 93, never any pings. Lloyd

UPDATE,i put in 4 gallons of 110 octane, then filled with exxon supreme, result pinging went away, but still shutting boost off after shift to second.so i then proceed to remove chip, and see how it runs then,i did and the result,it run perfect,so parkwayford the people i bought the chip from, emailed diablo, and told them the promblem, they said they will let me know something as soon as monday or tuesday,so ileft the chip out, till we find out the promblem,so thats where i stand now, hope they can solve this.

I do not want to step on any toes, but that brand is not generally the most resistant to ping. Try some Shell from a high volume, preferably dealer-owned station. Some independents will slip another source of fuel in their tanks from time to time to increase margins. Low volume stations can also experience quality problems.
