Just installed the direct wire for my Escort 8500. Thanks to everyone that helped me out with the location to wire it in. It was pretty easy and only took about 1 hour to do and wow what a difference now. Looks really clean and don't have that ugly coiled wire hanging from the radar. I got the wire from the Escort web site and was only $10. Here are some pic's of the install and I use a volt meter to find the 12v wire.

It was actually 95 outside but I accidently left the console in the direct sunlight while I was doing the wiring.
The mirror is a wide angle mirror and it works great, no distortion. I got it while looking around at a ricer shop and was about $20. Just clips right over the stock mirror.
