Backspacing for Smoothie II wheels?

So after much consideration and a lot of research I've decided to pull the trigger on some Boyd Coddington Smoothie II wheels (cast made by American Racing). Curious to know what backspacing I should get? Any suggestions or pitfalls to look out for?

Thanks!

I ended up ordering my new wheels yesterday! Yay! I went with 6" backspacing which I understand is close to the stock wheel. Seems some others have the same so I think I'm safe there.

I ordered the wheels thru a common tire place and was going to get tires with them as well but they quoted me like $50 higher per tire than what I had seen online, so I didn't get the tires thru them. He said he couldn't match online prices and he stated that after everything was said and done I would end up paying about the same amount for installation, balancing, etc. and that if I went thru him I would also get insurance on them and free rotation. Seems to me that it's considerably more expensive and that I could order tires online and save some dough. What do you guys think?

I think he's going to charge you about 200$ to mount and balance them.... and probably scratch your new wheels in the process....

I think you should buy the tires from them, they will include mounting and balance in the price, whereas if you bring in tires you bought online they will charge you up the hoohah.

And you should keep your money local, what will you do when these guys go out of business because online cheapskates wanted to save a few bucks here and there.

I always do my best to support local and small AMERICAN business, the tire rack could be owned by some chinese conglomerate for all we know.

That's possible, but Tire Rack does much to help amatuer racers, so you should cut them some slack.

Who is to say that a chinese conglomerate might not have that in their best interest, where do most of those brake rotors come from that the amature's chew up every weekend.....LOL
